Here’s a look at part two of the standouts from the event.
Alex Orr | 6’3” WG | James River
Orr was one of the breakout players at the event, as the 6’3” wing from James River showed he was one of the top shooters in the gym and made shots consistently. He has pretty good size on the wing and works well off the ball to get open, he has a quick release and deep range off the catch and he can be a secondary ball handler that can create shots and knock it down off the bounce too.
Leroy Hamilton Leroy Hamilton 6'2" | PG Oscar Smith | 2022 State VA | 6’2” CG | Oscar Smith
Hamilton was one of the top scorers in the 757 this past year, and he showed why at the event as he showed the ability to play both on the ball and off the ball and score it from different levels. He’s shifty off the bounce and knows how to create space and make shots from all over the floor, he can shoot it from deep and finish in the lane and understands angles and he can get hot quickly and score it in bunches.
Georges Archer Georges Archer 6'4" | SF Princess Anne | 2022 State VA | 6’4” WF | Princess Anne
Archer had a lot of coaches asking about him throughout the event, as he showed a lot of tools that translate to the next level with his size and athleticism. He’s a long and bouncy wing who got downhill and finished at and above the rim, he showed the ability to catch and knock down shots as well as hit the pull-up and he played with a good motor on both ends and rebounded well too.
Devin Walker | 6’1” PG | Blue Ridge
Walker was a big part of Blue Ridge’s run to yet another state championship, and the way he improved over the past few years bolds well for him moving forward. He’s the type of guard who is always under control and can play in different roles, he shot it very well from deep off the catch and got to spots off the bounce and he made good decisions and didn’t force things even in a camp setting.
Zach Kennedy | 5’6” PG | Banner Christian
Kennedy may have been the smallest guy in attendance, but he showed he can hoop with whoever as he has a good skill set and didn’t back down from anyone. He stays out of traps with the ball in his hands and has good shift off the bounce to get in the lane and make plays for others, he showed the ability to make shots from multiple levels and score efficiently and he was able to get under ball handlers and stay in front to make them uncomfortable.
Corey Long | 6’6” PF | Eastern View
Long had a breakout senior season for an Eastern View team that surprised a lot of people, and he is an intriguing forward with his mix of strength and skill set that makes him a walking mismatch. He has a very strong frame but is mobile and can run the floor and use his strength to clear out space and finish in the paint, he can step out to the elbows and knock down shots and pass to cutters and shooters and he plays with a great motor and rebounds well too.
