Josiah Lake Josiah Lake 6'1" | PG Tualatin | 2023 State OR II 2023 6’1 Tualatin High School, OR (Fly Select)
Josiah is a high level guard who has the ability to score in bunches from all three levels of the floor. He was the star of the show in the 17U circuit, as Fly Select won this age bracket and he boasted a team high 18.5 points per game. Lake’s ability to score off the bounce from anywhere on the floor makes him a complete offensive weapon. He is also an athletic freak who threw down one of the biggest dunks of the entire tournament off a sweet lob pass from his teammate. His offensive prowess is not even mentioning with the way in which he sees the court. He is an unselfish player who routinely found teammates cutting to the basket, or after drawing a second defender after getting two feet into the paint. This complete three level bucket getter was showing off and toying with his opponents on the offensive end, in route to a dominant performance every time Lake and his team stepped on the court. After researching him after the tournament, I was not surprised to learn that he recently lead his team to a state title in Oregon.
Sean Chris Tresvant Sean Chris Tresvant 5'11" | PG Cleveland | 2023 State OR 2023 6’1 Cleveland High School, OR (Fly Select)
Sean is an aggressive player who can do it all on every inch of the floor. He showed off his ability to rebound the ball, and consistently out-rebounded other guards and wings on both ends of the court. His aggressiveness bleeds through on the defensive end of the floor, where he is unafraid to take on the best opponent and wants to lock them up and follow them over every inch of the half court. He routinely got into the paint with his live dribble and attacked the rim at will where he showed an ability to finish above taller defenders. I would like to see him work on his handle and ability to stop on a dime and score within the midrange or beyond the arc. Once he begins to develop the second and third level of his game, he will become an even more deadly prospect on the offensive end.
Noah Jones 2023 6’3 Broadmoor Senior High School, LA (Showtime Elite LA 2023)
Noah is a high level combo guard who is patient and willing to take what the defense gives him every time down the court. I was blown away with his ability to methodically pick apart the defense with his calm nature and then simply rising up in the midrange or beyond the arc whenever the defense sags off of him. He uses his size well to attack the basket and put pressure on the defense in the paint, he made good passes out to his shooters after drawing a second defender and showed an ability to play off another lead guard. Jones has all of the tools that college coaches want to see in a lead guard, especially with his versatility on the defensive end as well. Be sure to keep your eye on this one, especially during his senior campaign next year!
Canon Edgecombe Canon Edgecombe 6'1" | CG St. Michael | 2023 State LA 2023 6’0 St. Michael High School, LA (Showtime Elite LA 2023)
Canon is a skilled guard who scores with ease beyond the arc, and has enough confidence to do it off the bounce. I was very impressed with his ability to stretch the floor off the dribble. Every time he crossed half court he was a threat to score, and it allowed his teammates to be a step more open with the amount of extra attention the defense put on Edgecombe. He was a joy to watch with the confidence and swagger that he played with during every second of the game. He was not afraid to take the defender off the bounce and get into the lane, and put pressure on the defense by drawing a second defender. I would like to see him work on his ability to funnel his aggression onto the defensive end of the floor as well. He is a smart player who knows how to find space and once he begins to think about cutting off angles and poking the ball free from his opponent the second the ball leaves his hand to dribble.
