Here’s a look at some of the standouts from teams on the east coast.
Kur Teng Kur Teng 6'4" | SG Bradford Christian | 2024 State #37 Nation NLG | 6’4” WG | Mass Rivals 2024
Teng continues to impressive with this young Mass Rivals team that had a very good weekend, and he’s quickly solidifying himself as one of the top shooters in the 2024 class. He has good size and is a good athlete which allows him to finish at the rim and defend, he has deep range and a quick release off the catch and he’s consistent and doesn’t go through long stretches where he is cold and misses shots. He also showed a knack for hitting big and clutch shots and will be a guy who should blow up on the recruiting trail sooner rather than later.
George Turkson | 6’7” WF | Mass Rivals 2024
Turkson is another impressive young player for Mass Rivals with a lot of upside moving forward with his blend of size, athleticism and budding skillset. At 6’7” his size at his position already translates to the next level and he can easily play and guard multiple positions, he runs the floor hard and is able to play above the rim and he can put it on the deck in transition and get to the rim where he can play through traffic. He still has a lot of room to grow and will be very successful moving forward.
Andre Mills Andre Mills 6'3" | CG Brimmer & May | 2024 State #116 Nation NLG | 6’4” WF | Mass Rivals 2024
Mills is a player I liked when I first saw him in Connecticut this year with Vermont Academy, and he looks like he’s coming along nicely and continuing to develop into a nationally ranked caliber player. The 6’4” wing is a good athlete who plays with a great motor on both ends of the floor, he can catch and shoot from deep and he has improved in his ability off the bounce. He already has a good frame and if he continues to improve this way he’ll be highly recruited moving forward.
Cameron Monteiro Cameron Monteiro 6'1" | CG Brockton (MA) | 2024 NLG | 6’2” PG | Mass Rivals 2024
Monteiro was the straw that stirred the drink for the young Mass Rivals group, as he set the tone on both ends of the floor and made plays for himself and others off the bounce. He has good positional size at 6’2” and is strong with the basketball, he touches the paint and makes good reads and he can knock down shots consistently from deep and in the midrange. He’s another reason that Mass Rivals is already one of the better groups in 3SSB but if they stay together next year they’ll be extremely tough to beat.
Ian Jackson Ian Jackson 6'5" | SF Cardinal Hayes (NY) | 2024 State #9 Nation NY | 6’6” WG | NY Wiz Kids 2024
Jackson is arguably the most talented 2024 in 3SSB this year, as the 6’6” two guard has a lot of impressive tools moving forward and is already making waves with his scoring ability. He has a good frame and great length to go along with good athleticism, he can make shots from deep off the catch and off the bounce and he has good wiggle to create space and create shots in isolation situations too. He’s a high upside guy who already is very talented and will continue to impress coaches moving forward.
Elijah Moore Elijah Moore 6'3" | SG OSL | 2024 State #188 Nation NY | 6’4” WG | NY Wiz Kids 2024
While Jackson may be considered a top 5 player in his class, Moore is another two guard for this Wiz Kids group who will be highly touted and nationally ranked over the next few years. He’s a confident scorer who can shoot the lights out from deep, he has good pop around the rim and is a smooth athlete who can run the floor and he has excellent potential defensively. He put up some big scoring games and he showed the ability to impact the game in a number of different ways.
Brycen Blaine Brycen Blaine 6'4" | SG Berkmar | 2022 State GA | 6’4” WG | Team Huncho 2022
Blaine transferred to Berkmar in GA from Virginia last season and he looks like a totally different player in the games I watched of him. He’s grown to about 6’4” from around 6’2”-6’3” over the past year, he looks very confident coming off of screens and making shots on the move and he can create and make tough shots off the bounce in the midrange too. He’s a late bloomer who can help a school down the stretch if he continues to develop the way he has.
