There’s not a player in the 2024 class, and maybe not a player in Nebraska with better craft in the pick and roll than Pokorski. He is adept at keeping two defenders occupied while his big wiggles into space. He has both the skip and the pocket pass in his bag depending on how the opponent defends the screener, and he can knock down the midrange and floater after he creates space. In addition to the elite pick and roll ability, he is a knock-down shooter from distance, 38% through his first two high school seasons.
Jacob Arop Jacob Arop 6'6" | C Bellevue West | 2024 State NE Current: 3 Previous: 13
This 2024 class is deep and extremely skilled. Of all the young talents who just completed their sophomore seasons, nobody has more upside than Arop. The movement skills he possesses at his size are special. He beats 99% of big men down the court, and for the other 1%, he will back down under the rim. His touch around the basket is special. When you have the skills to create space through strength and finesse as he does, but can also score it from any angle with either hand, you have scoring abilities that very few opponents can hinder.
CJ Mitchell CJ Mitchell 5'10" | PG Omaha Westside | 2024 State NE Current: 5 Previous: 8
Early in the season, Mitchell made a resounding case to get starter-level minutes for the Warriors. Westside was led by two senior guards, who were talented players in their own right. However, Mitchell matched their reliability and decision-making while also being a more talented scorer and playmaker. He is no slouch on defense, either. Mitchell is no Chandler Meeks Chandler Meeks 6'1" | CG Omaha Westside | 2022 State NE , but he can keep his man in front and stay active off the ball.
Treyson Anderson Treyson Anderson 6'9" | C Pius X | 2024 State NE Current: 11 Previous: 15
Anderson has flashes of Division I ability, and I’m fairly confident he will end up a top 5-7 player in this class when it’s all said and done. I became sold on this kid in the state tournament when he went toe-to-toe with the frontline for Bellevue West and at the very worst played them to a draw. He has great hands and good instincts as a shot blocker. He is a disciplined defender but has to find that extra gear to make him truly elite on that end.
Isaiah McMorris Isaiah McMorris 6'0" | CG Bellevue West | 2024 NE Current: 13 Previous: 24
Jasen Green Jasen Green 6'7" | PF Millard North | 2022 State #153 Nation NE and David Harmon David Harmon 6'3" | CG Millard North | 2022 State NE received most of the acclaim for the Mustangs, which they deserved. The X-Factor, though, for this team was McMorris. His assignment each game was to guard the opponents best perimeter player, and he took pride in making their life as difficult as possible. It is difficult to get past him, but even if you do he has the quickness to recover and get right back in front immediately. He only played 14 minutes per game for the Mustangs, yet was second on the team in steals. Offensively, he attacks tilted defenses well and can finish through and around size.
