Here are the 2023 point guard prospects who could turn heads this AAU season.
Isaac Hester Isaac Hester 6'0" | PG Ranney School | 2023 State NJ , 6’0 Ranney
His Team Rio University teammates Jadin Collins Jadin Collins 6'1" | PG Rutgers Prep | 2023 State NJ and Sebastian Robinson Sebastian Robinson 6'2" | CG Roselle Catholic | 2023 State NJ should also make noise, but Hester has a chance to take a big step. The 6’0 guard attacks the basket strong as he uses his body well to finish through contact. Hester is more than just a slasher as he has a nice release on his jumper and is capable of shooting either off the catch or dribble. He is a strong rebounder for a guard and is an underrated passer. Hester’s combination of scoring and distributing will help him have a strong AAU campaign.
Jalen Robinson Jalen Robinson 5'10" | PG Columbia | 2023 State NJ , 5’10 Columbia
Robinson has the potential for a strong spring and summer season if he is able to display his ability to run the offense efficiently. The 5’10 guard has a tight handle, which he uses to get into the lane and make plays. Robinson makes good decisions with the ball in his hands and is a crafty finisher around the basket. He can make opponents pay for giving him space on the perimeter and gets deflections on the defensive end. Robinson’s ability to involve his teammates in the half court is something that will help his stock in a big way.
Cian Medley Cian Medley 6'0" | PG Camden | 2023 State NJ , 6’0 Camden
Medley’s stock has been on the rise with his play in the EYBL with the NJ Scholars and it should continue to grow. The 6’0 guard has a good feel for the game as he does not get rattled by on-ball pressure and gets his team involved in the flow of the offense. Medley has a tight handle, which he uses to blow by his defender and finish around the rim. He is a pesky on-ball defender as he gets deflections and makes it hard for opponents to run their offense. Medley is a true point guard prospect who should see his stock rise as the months go by.
Carnegie Johnson Carnegie Johnson 6'0" | PG Blair Academy | 2023 State NJ , 5’11 Blair Academy
Johnson is set for a strong AAU season as he gets to show his ability to impact the game in multiple ways. The 5’11 guard has a smooth shooting stroke and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Johnson is more than just a shooter as he knows how to get his teammates involved and finishes strong around the basket. He is capable of playing off the ball and slides his feet well on the defensive end. Johnson is a two-way guard prospect who should make plays for the NY Jayhawks this spring and summer.
Hampton Sanders Hampton Sanders 6'0" | PG Lawrenceville | 2023 State NJ , 6’0 Lawrenceville
Sanders is a breakout contender for the NJ Bulldogs as he gets to run the show this spring and summer. The 6’0 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he finishes strong and is unafraid of drawing contact. Sanders gets to his spot on the half court and shoots the ball with confidence. He is a tough on-ball defender and gets his teammates involved in the half court. Sanders is a gritty point guard prospect who should have a strong spring and summer.
