We are ready to focus on the younger players but before we close the door on the 2022 class, here are players that have entered the prestigious club: the 1000 points scored list.
Mason Black Mason Black 6'4" Falcon | 2022 CO — Falcon
Black has been one of the main reasons that Falcon has become a more familiar team. Falcon is only a couple of season removed from being an afterthought to making the playoffs and making some noise and the main reason for that is their do-it-all sharpshooter Mason Black Mason Black 6'4" Falcon | 2022 CO . Black has been one of the best mid-range shooters in the state for the last two seasons, scores in various ways and is a player you have to defend the moment that he enters half court. Black improved every single season scoring as he had 12.8 as a freshman, 19.8 as a sophomore, 21.4 as a junior and had his best season yet as a senior with 24.0 points a game. That’s how you go out with a bang and he will be playing his college ball at Western State next season and they are getting one of the best scorers we have seen in the last 4 seasons.
Tarrance Austin Tarrance Austin 5'10" | PG Pueblo South | 2022 State CO — Pueblo South
Austin is one of the most creative players in the state and is electric with the ball in his hands. Austin is known for his scoring but is just as impressive as a passer and creator. Defenses have to guess how to slow him down and he seems to get better on each watch. He is a great shooter, goes inside and finishes with trees and excels in ISO situations. Austin dominates in PnR situations as he’s decisive with the ball in his hands and always looking to attack. Austin played varsity for all four seasons, put up 23 points a game and was an All-State performer in both junior and senior year. Pueblo South came up short with a loss in the state championship game but turned heads along the way as one of the most skilled players in the state on both ends of the floor.
Aidan Kuhl Aidan Kuhl 6'0" | SG Rocky Mountain | 2022 State #245 Nation CO — Fossil Ridge
Kuhl is a three year varsity starter who was the definition of a bucket. He is as consistent of a scorer as you will see in the state and his emergence to being a Top-3 player in the state was quick but solidified. He has been a scorer but his ability to take over a basketball game in his junior and senior year is what separated him from the batch. No player saw as much defensive attention as he did this season and he answered all critics with monster performance after monster performance. He had two 40+ point performances in his senior season and that is while being double teamed and a wild stat is he had less than double figures scoring in only two games in two seasons. Kuhl was an All-State player after a stellar senior season and is a DI player that will play his college ball at North Alabama. Bright future ahead for him.
Elijah Knudsen Elijah Knudsen 5'10" Mead | 2022 CO — Mead
Knudsen won the 4A player of the year as a junior as he led Mead to it’s first state championship since 1957 as he averaged 19.3 points a game. He also set the state record of any class for points scored in the state tournament. He backed that up with another stellar season putting up 18 points a game and leading Mead to more wins. That’s what Knudsen is; a winner that proved to be the states best shooter in the last couple of seasons. Knudsen shot 41% from deep in his career on 7 attempts a game. He creates shots for himself, is a knockdown shooter with unlimited range and has to be defended the second that he crosses halfcourt. Knudsen scores with the best of them and Colorado Mesa is an excellent fit for him.
