So today we will go deeper into the Pennsylvania Class of 2024 rankings and reveal five players who used the 2021 “fall ball” events as well as the 2021-22 high school season to break into our ranking for the first time.
Below is a review of five southeastern Pennsylvania 2024 prospects who made their rankings debut in our latest update.
#122… Jacob Cummiskey Jacob Cummiskey 6'3" | CG Central Bucks East | 2024 State PA – 6’3’’ / CB East / Team Final Black / Combo Guard: The little-known hero from CB East’s last second 2021 District 1 playoff victories over Boyertown and North Penn stepped into the spotlight during this season. In 2021-22 Cummiskey averaged 11 points and 4 rebounds per game. He recorded a season high 19 points on three separate occasions. Cummiskey is a versatile, high IQ lefty who can play 1 through stretch-4. His ability to slash to the rim and score the rock through traffic in creative ways is impressive. Additionally, he shoots the 3-ball efficiently (34% from deep), cleans the glass and plays solid defense. At the end of this season, he was named as a 1st Team All-Suburban One League (Colonial Div.) selection.
#200…Naseem Wright – 6’5” / Abraham Lincoln / Wing: This season Wright was an important “glue guy” for a talented Lincoln squad that went to the PIAA state tournament. Even though Wright excels in that role, he has also shown flashes that he can be a major offensive contributor. For instance, Wright hit for 19 points against Math, Civics & Sciences as well as 16 points vs St. Joe’s Prep. Wright is a slashing style of wing who can play above the rim. Plus, he owns enough handles that he can create opportunities for himself off the dribble. On defense Wright is a menacing presence who triggers Lincoln’s transition game with steals and deflections.
#203… Dan Mason Dan Mason 6'9" | C Bishop Eustace | 2023 State NJ – 6’9” / Perkiomen School / Team Final Black / Power Forward: In his first season at the Perkiomen School, Mason proved to be a very capable scoring threat from the mid-range to the rim. Mason is an extraordinarily efficient low post operator who understands how to score and pass with his back to the basket. Mason’s positioning skills, footwork and a soft touch make him tough to guard in the paint. Additionally, he owns a nice up and under move and excels in pick & roll action. With his textbook shooting mechanics Mason can knock down jumpers from the baseline as well as the elbows. With his size and wingspan, he is also a beast on the offensive glass. Mason scored a season high 12 points (Grabbed 10 rebounds too.) against Friends Central. At the defensive end Mason is a legitimate shot blocker.
#229…Namisse Musonge – 6’3” / Abington Friends / Philly Pride Select / Wing: During the 2021 summer grassroots circuit Musonge’s basketball skills were raw. However, with his length, athleticism and silky mid-range jump shot, the upside on this prospect was obvious. The 2021-22 season was Musonge’s first year of high school basketball and that upside continued to reveal itself. This winter Musonge (4 ppg. & 2 rpg.) extended the range on his jumper out to the 3-point arc and developed several off the dribble moves that allow him to finish at the rim. As his confidence grew, Musonge became a more aggressive offensive player who would on occasion slash to the rim for a bucket. The highlight of his inaugural high school season came when he scored 12 points and grabbed 3 boards against New Foundations Charter. Musonge is a prospect to keep an eye on during the spring grassroots circuit.
#258… Daquan Burgess Daquan Burgess 5'11" | C Reading | 2024 State PA – 6’0” / Reading / Reading KTB / Combo Guard: Burgess is an extremely talented guard who is flying under the radar at a Reading program deep with all-state level talent at the guard position. Burgess is quick to get out in transition and fill a wing where he can glide to the basket for hoop. In the half-court, Burgess will use the dribble drive to blow by defenders for buckets in the paint. He is especially adept at scoring the ball via baseline drives. No matter how he gets to the rim, once he is there, Burgess can absorb contact and still score the ball. On the defensive end Burges has a knack for picking pockets and slicing through passing lanes steals. He registered an impressive 6 thefts in a game vs. Daniel Boone this season.
