On a day where stars shined, the following guys really impressed at the highest level.
Gibbs High School:
#10 Jacob Daniels PG Fr. 5’9″ 150 lbs. – It seemed as if every time Jacob Daniels had the ball in his hands something good would happen for the Gladiators. Daniels was outstanding on the offensive side of the ball shooting 50% from the field and a perfect 9-9 from the stripe. He finished the game with a game high 21 points. What the stat sheet does not show is the degree of difficulty of the majority of his shots. The 5’9″ guard was able to move his body in mid air to finish layups in a way that resembled Kyrie Irving.
#32 Marcus Calvin Marcus Calvin 6'3" | CG Gibbs | 2023 FL F Jr. 6’4″ 250 lbs – Marcus Calvin Marcus Calvin 6'3" | CG Gibbs | 2023 FL really impressed me offensively. The big man had excellent awareness in the paint as well as impeccable post footwork. He was crafty around the rim, finishing shots that not many players could pull off. His touch around the rim was very soft and allowed him to finish with 7 total points. Calvin is a Kenny Lofton Jr. type of player. Do not sleep on the big man.
Andrew Jackson High School:
#4 Michael Swift Michael Swift 5'11" | PG Andrew Jackson | 2023 State FL G Jr. 6’3″ 140 lbs – Michael Swift Michael Swift 5'11" | PG Andrew Jackson | 2023 State FL stole the show on Thursday and was the spark that the Tigers needed to advance to the state title game. Swift is a three level scorer that can take nearly anyone to the rim. He utilizes off ball cutting extremely well. The junior guard has a really smooth mid range pull-up jumper. He has big shot making capability and finished the game with 13 points. Don’t be surprised if he starts to rack up D1 offers.
#21 Ronald Durham G So. 6’3″ – Durham became a catalyst for the Tigers coming off the bench and shooting 5-7 from the field. He is a long and athletic guard with the natural ability to drive into traffic and finish contested shots. He finished the game with 11 points.
Calvary Christian Academy:
#4 Marvel Allen Marvel Allen 6'4" | SG Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian | 2023 State #46 Nation FL G Jr. 6’5″ 198 lbs. – Not much can be said about Marvel Allen Marvel Allen 6'4" | SG Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian | 2023 State #46 Nation FL that isn’t already known. The junior LSU commit was outstanding on Thursday, finishing tough, contested shots. He shot 6-11 from the field, knocking down two big threes. He tallied 19 points and only 1 turnover in the close win over LHP.
Lake Highland Prep:
#5 Brice Sensabaugh Brice Sensabaugh 6'6" | PF Lake Highland Prep | 2022 State #104 Nation FL G Sr. 6’6″ 240 lbs. – Brice definitely stepped up and showed exactly why he is going to the Big 10 to play for Ohio State. The 6’6″ guard showcased his range, knocking down 4 threes, most of which were past the NBA line. He tallied 27 points and was really the only reason Lake Highland was in the game. He hit big shots in big moments, which is the signal of a special talent.
