Jack Daugherty Jack Daugherty 6'8" | PF Brookfield Central | 2024 State #311 Nation WI – Forward – Brookfield Central/Phenom University
Think Daugherty might not be far off from landing his first Division 1 offer. The 6-foot-8 forward was a key piece in Brookfield Central’s run to the Division 1 state title game. Right now, he’s a stretch, pick n’ pop forward who can light it up from 3-point range. There are a lot of tools to work with though as Daugherty shows flashes of sizing people up on the perimeter, running the floor and scoring in transition, and being a rim protector as well. With a little more strength, explosiveness, and confidence, it could all come together for Daugherty, whose father played at Wisconsin.
Termarion Brumby Termarion Brumby 6'1" | CG Racine Case | 2024 State WI – Point Guard – Racine Case/Wisconsin Playground
Brumby played on a very senior-laden team this season, but thought he performed his role well and definitely was able to jump out and make his own noise. A strong, downhill, attacking guard, Brumby has a terrific upper body as well as balance that allows him to smoothly, but forcibly get to the rim. The 6-foot-1 guard is very shifty and can change directions on a dime. If he can shoot it consistently from outside, Brumby is going to continue to climb the rankings.
Will Hornseth Will Hornseth 6'8" | PF De Pere | 2024 State #208 Nation WI – Power Forward – De Pere/Wisconsin Blizzard
Hornseth is starting to see Big Ten interest come his way and rightfully so. The 6-foot-8 sophomore has a terrific post skill set that will translate well at the next level. Hornseth knows how to win his battles early and establish position, can score over either shoulder, possesses a very soft touch inside, and can use an array of post moves. Hornseth is also a reliable 3-point shooter that can space the floor and will pull opposing bigs away from the rim. Think he’s going to have a big time spring/summer and see a lot of new interest, if not offers. UW-Green Bay and Toledo are already on board here.
Sekou Konneh Sekou Konneh 6'6" | SF St. Thomas More | 2024 State WI – Forward – St. Thomas More/Team Haliburton
Not sure there’s a player with better upside in this class than Konneh. The 6-foot-8 sophomore is probably under-ranked in terms of what he’ll become in two years if he works at it. An athletic freak with length and some skill, Konneh is very difficult to keep away from the rim. He’s slowly expanding his game away from the paint as well and showed some nice mid-range ability this season. If he wants, Konneh can be the best defender in the state. He can switch onto guards out on the perimeter and move laterally, has the size and length to give opposing forwards problems inside, and can wipe away points with his weak-side shot blocking ability.
Aidan Konop Aidan Konop 6'2" | SG Sussex Hamilton | 2024 State WI – Point Guard – Sussex Hamilton/MTXE Premier
Loved what Konop did this season at Sussex Hamilton. Think the 6-foot-1 guard is really undervalued right now given his ability to control the game, dictate tempo, and just make plays on the ball when his team needs them. Doesn’t wow you athletically, but has a knack for beating his man off the dribble and getting two feet in the paint. Konop was just steady and consistent all season, but tended to elevate himself and his team late in close games.
Joey LaChapell Joey LaChapell 5'10" | PG Appleton East | 2024 State WI – Point Guard – Appleton East/Wisconsin Crusaders
Was an integral part of East’s turnaround season. A sneaky good prospect in 2024, LaChapell is the baby-faced assassin. The 5-foot-10 guard is a dangerous sniper from 3-point range, but he always plays with a little bit of an edge. Probably doesn’t strike fear into many opponents, but LaChapell didn’t back down in some high-level matchups in the Fox Valley Association. In fact, a lot of times, he’d end up guarding the other team’s best player.
Sam Mickelson Sam Mickelson 6'7" | PF Madison Memorial | 2024 State WI – Forward – Madison Memorial/Team FVV
Mickelson was one of the biggest breakout players, not only in Madison, but the state this past season. A 6-foot-6 forward who can really catch and shoot on the go, Mickelson is quite unique in this class. Mickelson can also score with his back to the basket and generate high percentage opportunities near the rim. He doesn’t forget about his other duties defensively either, controlling the glass, protecting the rim, and being a help-side rim protector.
Cody Schmitz Cody Schmitz 6'4" | SG Gale Ettrick-Trempeleau | 2024 State WI – Wing – Gale Ettrick Trempeleau/Wisconsin Playmakers
Schmitz is coming off a monster sophomore season. Think he has the potential to replicate some of those numbers against better competition as well. Schmitz has good positional size at 6-foot-5, can score from all three levels, and possesses some unexpected above-the-rim ability. Schmitz is going to run in the UA Rise league with the Playmakers. Eager to see how he performs.
Theo Schofield Theo Schofield 6'5" | PF Waterloo | 2024 State WI – Forward – Sun Prairie/Wisconsin Academy
Think this might be the biggest hidden gem in the state right now. Schofield is paying his dues at Sun Prairie, where you generally have to earn your keep. It should benefit him in the long run, but you watch him play and there’s a ton to like about this prospect. Schofield is a strong, physical, and athletic 6-foot-5 combo forward that’s oozing with upside. The lefty makes his hay as a slasher, but shows some ability to step away and shoot the ball and he’s also a coast-to-coast threat in transition. Defensively, think he’ll also develop the versatility to defend multiple positions.
M.J. Stackhouse M.J. Stackhouse 6'7" | PF Kenosha Indian Trail | 2024 State WI – Forward – Kenosha Indian Trail/Phenom University
Love the upside of Stackhouse and think the best is still yet to come. The 6-foot-6 sophomore is just scratching the surface as a potential mismatch nightmare. Stackhouse already has an advanced face-up game in the mid-range and really explodes well off the ground for his size. He’s also got terrific length, can shoot off the dribble, and has a pretty stroke from distance.
