There were two brackets, a championship bracket featuring 16 teams who were chosen due to their resume, and a showcase bracket featuring 8 teams that just missed the cut.
There were teams from all over the country in attendance, and there were tons of big time players throughout the event.
Here’s a look at part three of the New England standouts from the event.
If you’d like to watch the playback of the event, you can see it here.
Amare Tice | 6’7” PF | South Kent ’22
Tice was a very intriguing and impactful forward for South Kent this past week, as the 6’7” athletic forward used his bounce and high motor to make plays on both ends of the floor. He was a big time shot blocker and rebounder as he played above the rim, he ran the floor hard and finished around the basket well and he showed the ability to guard multiple positions and made winning plays on both ends of the floor.
Papa Kante Papa Kante 6'10" | C South Kent | 2023 State #118 Nation NLG | 6’9” C | South Kent ’23
Kante is the type of big that the game is trending toward, as he is a mobile and athletic post player who runs the floor and finishes above the rim, he can switch on defenders and he is comfortable in the half court playing inside-out. He was productive on both ends of the floor as he showed he can score it and rebound on both ends, and he plays with a great motor and intensity to his game and doesn’t show any fear at all.
Nate Guerrengomba | 6’4” WG | South Kent ’24
Guerrengomba is going to have a very bright future in this tournament, as the strong wing is already one of the top scorers in New England and still has a lot of room to get better as well. The 6’4” off guard gets downhill and finishes well through contact and in the midrange, he can knock down shots from deep, he’s a good rebounder and he has takeover ability from a scoring standpoint.
Jonathan Beagle Jonathan Beagle 6'9" | PF St. Thomas More | 2022 State NLG | 6’9” PF | St. Thomas More ’22
Beagle is committed to Albany and from the times I’ve seen him, including at the Prep National Showcase, he looks like he’ll be an absolute steal in the American East Conference. At 6’9” he’s a versatile scoring forward who can score it in the paint over both shoulders and he can step out and shoot the three, he’s a good athlete who can run the floor and finish above the rim, he is efficient and productive and he shows good toughness as well.
Kyle Carlesimo | 6’1 CG | St. Thomas More ’22
Carlesimo was huge for St. Thomas More on their run to the showcase championship, and he showed that he can do a lot both playing on the ball and off the ball as well. The 6’1” combo handles pressure well and has a good feel and IQ as a playmaker, he’s a knock down shooter from deep and with good range and he can fill it up in bunches when he gets it going from different spots on the floor.
Noah Williamson | 6’11” C | St. Thomas More ’22
Williamson is a very impressive available big man, who has a lot of potential moving forward with his size and skill set and the fact that he still has a lot of room to improve. He moves fairly well and he can get up and down in transition and moves well defensively, he can score it over the shoulder and at the rim and he rebounds and defends at the rim very well too.
Kyle Filipowski Kyle Filipowski 6'9" | PF Wilbrham & Monson | 2022 State #13 Nation NLG | 6’10” PF | Wilbraham & Monson ’22
Arguably the top player in the country, the Duke commit showed why he’s so good with his unique and versatile skill set at his size that allows him to be very productive and makes him so difficult to guard and game plan for. At 6’10” he’s built very strong and is explosive off his feet making him a good finisher and rebounder, he can knock down shots from all over the floor, he showed the ability to handle the ball and create off the bounce and he has a toughness to him that makes him one of the hardest playing and most productive bigs in the country.
Deven Austin Deven Austin 6'5" | SG Wilbraham & Monson | 2022 State NLG | 6’5” WF | Wilbraham & Monson ’22
A Princeton commit who is going to be an absolute steal in the Ivy League, Austin was fantastic as he showcased his two way impact as a scorer, defender and rebounder as well. He has good size on the wing and plays like he was shot out of a cannon as his athletic finishing ability makes him dynamic in transition, he can put it on the deck in the half court and make plays for himself and others and he has big time potential on the defensive end at the next level.
Sean Seymour | 6’4” WG | Wilbraham & Monson ‘22
Of all the available players for W&M, none of them had the stock rising week that Seymour did as he played well in a lot of ways, but especially shooting the basketball and showing a good IQ for the game as well. He moves off the basketball to get open and sets his feet well to make shots on the move, he has good range and a quick release and he knows his game and plays within it and is very consistent as well.
