A couple of upsets headlined yesterday’s district semifinal action last night, most notably Coopersville’s 57-50 win over Grand Haven. Check out my thoughts on the Northview-FH Northern game and the Rockford-FH Central game as well as the top performers from across the West Michigan area below.

Rockford 57, Forest Hills Central 53

The best overall matchup across the area took place between Rockford and Forest Hills Central in a back-and-forth game that certainly lived up to the hype. Forest Hills Central’s Jonas Vanderwoude Jonas Vanderwoude 6'3" | PG Grand Rapids Christian | 2024 State MI knocked down a couple of threes in the second quarter to help the Rangers go into the break with a two-point lead. In the third quarter, it was Rockford’s Caden Pokorzynski who took over, driving to the basket almost at will to help Rockford grab a lead it wouldn’t relinquish. Jacob Bonnett Jacob Bonnett 5'11" | SG Forest Hills Central | 2022 State MI ended his career on a high note, scoring 18 points and doing everything in his power to will Forest Hills Central to a win. Blake Murphy had a big game for Rockford as well, scoring 11 points and grabbing a ton of boards and loose balls.
