College Commitment: Julian Mora (2022 Summit)
It was a historic run for Summit this season and it wouldn’t have happened without Julian Mora Julian Mora 6'0" | PG Summit | 2022 State OR . The shifty 5-foot-11 was the engine behind the Storm machine all season long and his last-second putback winner in the first round at state will be forever one of the all-time moments in 6A history. While the team fell just short of winning it all, Mora had an oustanding season and will now take his talents up I-5 to college at Seattle Pacific.
Mora made a verbal commitment to Seattle Pacific in early February, a choice that he saw coming for quite some time. “They’ve been on me for awhile and they were kind of my favorite all along since the start of the summer,” Mora said. “So once they offered me, I kind of knew where I wanted to go. Coach Leep and his staff are awesome – I’m really excited.”
A number of schools had shown interest in Mora, especially as the season went and he continued to uplift Summit to win after win. But after an official offer was made by the Falcons coaching staff, the point guard felt no need to wait any longer and made his commitment known. He described what he loved about Seattle Pacific both off and on the basketball floor.
“The campus is really nice – it’s right on the water,” Mora said. “The program – the past says it all. They’re always at the top of the league and they do a great job. I went on an unofficial visit there in the summer and it was everything I wanted in a college experience.”
In helping Summit reach the 6A title game with an undefeated record, Mora averaged 16.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.9 assists while shooting over 50 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range. At the state tournament, he constantly moved the ball quickly up the floor – something he sees himself doing at the college level as well.
“I’m just going to do what I’ve done (at Summit) with pushing pace,” Mora said. “Getting other guys open and knocking down some shots.”
With his decision, Mora joined Summit teammate Caden Harris Caden Harris 6'4" | SG Summit | 2022 State OR (Chico State) as a NCAA Division II commitment. He currently ranks as the #12 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2022 rankings.
