Continue ReadingChampionship rings have been ordered, banners will be raised, and memories have been made. But who’s on our All-Tournament team? I watched every single minute of the state tournament and talked to several analysts in attendance to find out. After 21 games, here are the first team All-State Tournament selections. 1st team, 2nd team, 3rd team, were announced earlier in the week. My colleague Caleb Jones breaks down All-Tournament teams by classification here.
Honorable Mentions
PG: Esteban Lluberes Esteban Lluberes 5'10" | PG Riviera Prep | 2022 State FL
Lluberes was a top 5 scorer in a field a next level prospect. A bulldog frame, deep range on his jumpshot, and a picturesque pull up jumper are all weapons in his tool bag. He combines the quickness and strength shorter guards need to excel at the next level. 23 points in the semifinals and 28 in the final showed off instant impact scoring attributes. The Lynn University signee is also a high level playmaker equipped with no look passes and the handle to create space. 4.5 threes and 4.5 assists per game on the biggest stage in Florida high school basketball is a big deal.
SG: Brice Sensabaugh Brice Sensabaugh 6'6" | PF Lake Highland Prep | 2022 State #104 Nation FL
Having the FACA basketball player of the year as an honorable mention feels wrong, but it’s what can happen in a stacked field. Sensabaugh had a game-high 27 points dialing it in on every scoring aspect. Transition, beyond the arc, midrange, free throws you name it the Ohio State signee put the ball in the hole from it against a team that will play for a national title. He showed the speed and athleticism to score coast to coast against high major athletes.
SF: Isaac Celiscar Isaac Celiscar 6'6" | SG Winter Haven | 2024 State #263 Nation FL
Celiscar steps into a combo guard role with every watch. He’s running Winter Haven’s offense, hitting the post with perfectly placed passes, and guarding 1-3 with ease. He’s still a monster on the boards and as his passing, ball skills, and point guard acumen improve, he’ll clinch his place near the top of Florida’s loaded 2024 class.
PF: Nedas Zukauskas Nedas Zukauskas 6'8" | PF Sagemont | 2022 State FL
Zukauskas’s performance in the state final earned him this spot. His mobility and 6’9 size garnered interest from day 1, but when the shots fell, it turned heads. Simone that tall that can bang against like size, stretch the floor out the NBA, and create for themselves out of the high post is rare. His talent and production make him one of Florida’s best kept secrets.
C: Dylan James Dylan James 6'8" | SF The Rock | 2023 State #48 Nation FL
Despite a second man running at James all night, he still led his team on scoring. He’s a long agile that can score from everywhere and defend every position at the high school level. The junior is one of the few players in the country that can handle, shoot, and call themselves a legitimate rim protector. James could have made an all-tournament list with another game, but what he did against a staunch defense gives him well-deserved recognition.
6th Man: Marvel Allen Marvel Allen 6'4" | SG Ft. Lauderdale Calvary Christian | 2023 State #46 Nation FL
Allen deserves to be mentioned thanks to his clutch play. He stepped up at the free throw line hitting 10 of his 13 attempts all coming towards the end of the fourth quarter. The improved free throw line efficiency has translated into midrange shotmaking. Turnaround baseline fades and step backs all fell for the junior. He’s still a high level defender and floor general that can get in the paint whenever he wants. The 2023 5 star guard recently decommitted from LSU.
