Marcus Ziegler- The guard for height has come through for them all season long and he has yet to slow down as he leads his team to the state championship game. Ziegler has shown everyone that he is one of the best players in the state. From big time 3s when the falcons need them the most might be the talk of the town but he is nothing less than a leader. From making sure his teammates stay locked in during the game, to defending the ball, finding his open teammates, Marcus is everything heights need to go win it all. What might get overlooked is his poise when he is playing. His understanding of the game is off the charts and under appreciated. From understanding the time and score, feeling the need to go make a play when his team is starting to make a run or stopping the run the other team is trying to make, he has all the qualities of a true basketball player that is position less. Just put him on the court and he will go make a play.
Amalachi Wilkins- The freshman for heights has filled some big shoes that his team has asked of him. Not many freshman can come in right away into a winning varsity environment and go make a positive impact. Wilkins is showing why not only he plays varsity but starts for the falcons. Being around 6’6″ he does a great job of playing without fouling, rebounding the ball and contesting shots at the rim. Although he is raw on the offensive end and has some Developing to do on the block and around the rim, he does everything his team needs of him to do. With the championship game on the line, the freshman will have a tall task of going for his first championship ring against blue valley,
Jet Dineen- Top players aren’t always the leading scorers and Jet understands that completely. What stuck out to us about Jet is his ability to do everything his team doesn’t do. From taking charges against the other team best player, to rebounding over guys 5 inches taller than him, you can see the passion for the game in his eyes. Dineen is easily a difference maker in any game he plays in just based off of his second chance hustle points he gets you, or his never giving up mentality on the defensive end, his is what you need on any winning team.
Camren Edwards- When his teammates Jordan Brown Jordan Brown 6'2" | SG St Francis | 2022 State GA and Mozae Downing is slow to get going, Camren picks it up with his huge playmaking ability. From flashy passes, defensive stops or his scoring ability, he puts pressure on the opposing team non stops. What exactly does he do you may say? Picture this “no look pass to his post under the rim for the lay up, stays there to pressure the ball on defense, gets a steal around half court then shoots a transition 3. A couple plays later he finishes a double clutch reverse lay up to continue his teams run.” Most talk about how talented free state is, he is apart of that conversation for sure.
Grant Stubblefield Grant Stubblefield 6'2" | PG Blue Valley Northwest | 2023 State KS – A strong guard that doesn’t back down when the lights are bright. Right from tip off he wasn’t afraid to get things going by going down hill and finishing at the rim. 3 trips back to back to back he finishes off of 2 feet in front of the rim avoiding the charges with 1 of them going for an and one. Stubblefield has the ability to go on a run by himself majority of the game then find his teammates and let them make plays at the perfect timing. With his explosive first step and his strong body, he is tough to keep in front and defend.
