Continue ReadingChampionship rings have been ordered, banners will be raised, and memories have been made. But who’s on our All-Tournament team? I watched every single minute of the state tournament and talked to several analysts in attendance to find out. After 21 games, here are the first team All-State Tournament selections. 1st team was selected Friday and 2nd on Saturday. Honorable mentions list will be announced throughout the following days. My colleague Caleb Jones breaks down All-Tournament teams by classification here.
3rd Team
PG: Adrian Cruz Adrian Cruz 6'3" | PG Sagemont | 2022 State FL
Cruz had 40 points in one of the best games played in the 2022 state championship. The unsigned senior was insanely efficient, proving the 6’3 guard can compete with D1 recruits. Cruz’ can score from all over but excels at attacking the basket. His 55 total points over two games were the most in a talented field. He loves to get teammates involved and often starts the break with long down court passes. He’s a solid defender that takes charges and grabs steals against lead guards.
SG: Issac Tervarus
Tervarus has a way of turning rebounds into fast break opportunities. The traits that make him an incredible slasher and transition scorer netted him 44 points and 16 rebounds in a nail biting game. He’s 6’5 with plus length and athleticism. His pull up in the midrange and ability to score against contact in the paint helped him earn an offer from Portland University.
SF: Ross Candelino Ross Candelino 6'5" | SG Ponte Vedra | 2022 State FL
Candelino helped lead the Dolphins to their first state title game in school history. He’s a tough 6’5 forward that can play inside and out. The unsigned senior has a physical frame that he can throw around on the block while having the foot to create looks for himself. Beyond the arc, Candelino is just as deadly knocking dish multiple threes in both games. He doubles as a potent passer and a menace in passing lanes.
PF: Gregg Glenn Gregg Glenn 6'7" | PF Calvary Christian (FL) | 2022 State #161 Nation FL
Glenn’s back to back near double doubles showcased all the skills that make him a 4 star Michigan recruit. He’s an athletic 6’8 forward that can grab boards and push the ball up court to create offense with his passing. Glenn defends the rim, scores above the rim, and makes plays on defense. His strength and versatility will serve him well at the highest levels of Division 1 basketball.
C: Ernest Udeh Ernest Udeh 6'10" | C Dr. Phillips | 2022 State #48 Nation FL Jr.
Udeh Jr.‘ 6’10 frame and athleticism make him a terrific rebounder and lob threat. He hovered just under 9 rebounds a game and connected with teammates for several oop jams. We don’t talk about his passing much, but he was too ten amongst big men in assist throwing sharp passes from the high post. His hustle and cleanup work is a major reason he’s considered the highest ranked big man prospect going to Kansas since Joel Embiid.
