A variety of young men showcased their abilities on the hardwood this winter during the high school basketball season, while “lighting up” the scoreboards as freshmen. Despite half the players reclassifying in the past, the talent pool is still a high-quality group of kids with already maturing physiques and extremely bright futures. We developed a list of leading scorers for the freshman class in the Western PA area. If you get a chance please attend some AAU games this spring/summer and check out these boys on the court…

1)…..Rank 18….. Jayden Davis Jayden Davis 5'10" | CG Chartiers Valley | 2025 State PA (5’10, combo guard)
26 points per game…..Chartiers Valley HS
- An older, advanced freshman with extreme quickness and outstanding ball-handling skills that creates many opportunities in the open floor
- He doesn’t shy away from shooting the ball consistently throughout the four quarters of a game
- Jayden has extremely high confidence in his basketball abilities
2)…..Rank 11….. Shamar Simpson Shamar Simpson 6'1" | SF The Neighborhood Academy | 2025 State PA (6’0, combo guard)
23 points per game…..Neighborhood Academy HS
- A strong, mature freshman with the smoothness to get to the basket or knock down the perimeter jumper
- His high knowledge of the game makes him a true floor general and leader for his team
- Shamar has the talent to be a special player as his high school career moves forward

- He broke onto the scene this season for his team dropping consistently high scoring performances
- Look for this young man to continue developing his talent level for a very bright future
- Zion has the athletic ability to “take over” games each night consistently
4)…..Rank 16….. Courtney Wallace Courtney Wallace 6'2" | CG The Neighborhood Academy | 2025 State PA (6’0, shooting guard)

- This shifty, talented guard makes everyone better around him with precision passing and top-notch shooting skills
- A sound defender with quick hands for steals and deflections
- Courtney likes to push the ball on the break and find open teammates for easy finishes at the basket
5)…..Rank 23…..Notorious Grooms (5’10, point guard)
19 points per game…..Uniontown HS
- Despite his youth, he is a proven leader at the point guard position that limits turnovers
- He isn’t afraid to get physical on the defensive end of the floor while “locking up” his opponents
- Notorious is an excellent free throw shooter and has a solid perimeter game

- An advanced freshman that became his team’s best player this high school season
- His creativity separates him from many other players his age in the 2025 class

- This lanky, thin young man proves that its more about the skillset than the size/body build of a player
- He has deadly deep range on his three-point shot, while still having the quickness to get into the lane
- Rowan is a team leader and his advanced knowledge of the game makes him a matchup problem every time he steps on the floor

- An older freshman that has attended a variety of schools, but found a home at Bishop Canevin HS this season
- His athleticism causes problems for his opponents on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court
- Amari will continue to excel this spring/summer playing on the AAU circuit
10)…..Rank 19….. Alier Maluk Alier Maluk 7'0" | PF Long Island Lutheran | 2025 State #62 Nation NY (6’9, power forward)

- An extremely tall, long player with the ability to step out and knock down shot consistently
- Once this young performer gains some weight and adds muscle he will be a nightmare to guard anywhere on the floor
