Continue ReadingThe Sophomore class is a good one and we’ve already got over 100 ranked players in the class before their 16u AAU seasons start. There are several kids with modest statistics but big time potential so it’s been a tough class to figure out so far. This is a big summer for 2024 kids and these are the top 10 in the latest update.
Travis Perry Travis Perry 6'2" | PG Lyon County | 2024 State #115 Nation KY , Lyon County – Perry retains the top spot in the latest update after a terrific Sophomore season that will end at Rupp Arena sometime this week. Perry is over 3,000 career points and is on track to obliterate the Kentucky career scoring record before he graduates. Travis is a big time shooter who can play on or off the ball and is a better playmaker than he’s given credit for because so many people know him for his scoring.
Trent Noah Trent Noah 6'7" | SF Harlan County | 2024 State #139 Nation KY , Harlan County – Noah had a huge Sophomore season including multiple 40+ point games and a school record 66 point performance in January. A big guard who plays with and without the ball, Trent is likely to be a top 100 in America prospect soon. At 6’6, he’s an efficient scorer who posted splits of 54-38-85 this season and earned his first offer from Coastal Carolina a little while back.
Ayden Evans Ayden Evans 6'9" | C Elizabethtown | 2024 State KY , Elizabethtown – Long term, Ayden is the best prospect in this class. He has great size and athleticism and is a tremendous rim protector. His offense has really started to come along and coaches have taken notice as he has a couple of early D1 offers from WVU and Mississippi State. He has a huge summer ahead of him.
Damone King Damone King 6'0" | PG DeSales | 2024 State KY , Manual – Damone is the top ranked Sophomore in Louisville and had a really strong Sophomore season for the Crimson as they established themselves as a top team in Louisville. King can score or create for others and is a coach on the floor who isn’t afraid to hold his teammates accountable. He has an early offer from Ohio and could earn several others this summer.
Jayden Miles, Western – Jayden is right up there with Ayden Evans Ayden Evans 6'9" | C Elizabethtown | 2024 State KY in terms of long term potential in this class. Jayden is very athletic and has a lot of tools but needs to play with a great motor more consistently. At 6’8, Miles is a rim running big on offense but also showed he can knock down open 3s in the catch and shoot. He’s one to watch for earning offers this summer.
Jay Rose Jay Rose 6'4" | SG Madison Southern | 2024 State KY , Madison Southern – Jay is one of the biggest movers of the season after having a massive Sophomore season and establishing himself as one of the best players in the 11th region. Rose has a high skill level and is very bouncy at 6’3 or 6’4. Long term, Jay has D1 upside if he continues to developing his game.
Blake Reed Blake Reed 5'10" | PG Mason County | 2024 KY , Bracken County – Reed is like Perry in the sense that he’s on track to end his career as one of the best scorers in state history. He helped Bracken County to one of the best seasons in school history and scored a whole lot of points in the process. His college potential will be determined in part this summer as he will get a chance to be a distributor as opposed to always being relied on to score to carry his team.
Jacob Hand Jacob Hand 6'4" | SF Holy Cross | 2024 State KY , Holy Cross (Louisville) – One of Reed’s teammates this summer, Hand is a top small school player in the state and a potential D1 recruit if he continues to develop his game in the coming years. Jacob is a good athlete who routinely plays above the rim but will need to improve his perimeter shooting to boost his college stock.
Kaydon Custard Kaydon Custard 6'2" | PG Harrison County | 2024 State KY , Harrison County – A two sport star who is capable of earning offers in basketball or football, Custard is another player who needs to show a more consistent jumpshot this summer to boost his stock. Kaydon is a bully guard who plays with a tremendous motor and does not back down from going head to head with the best guards in the class.
Kade Unseld Kade Unseld 6'5" | SF Warren Central | 2024 State #252 Nation KY , Warren Central – Kade is a player that would have a lot bigger individual numbers if he played anywhere other than Warren Central. He has great size at 6’5 and knocked down threes at nearly 40% this season. As a player who shot more 3s than 2s this season, Unseld needs to be more consistent taking the ball to the basket just as much as he will fire shots from deep.
