Liquids and Solids in the Volunteer-Morristown West Game
A Monday night 78-61 win by Volunteer High (19-9) utilized liquids and solids. The Morristown-Hamblen Trojans slid down the waterslide to 6 wins and 15 losses.
Volunteer’s flood of scoring began early and continued throughout thanks to several key starters. Bradin Minton Bradin Minton 6'2" | PG Volunteer | 2023 State TN was again elusive with the slippery dribble and reliable shooting.
When the team needed a sharp pass, Minton delivered with fluidity. To be fair though, the entire VHS team shares the ball wonderfully. They are a team with few egos.
For future opponents, the scout will be hard as the Falcons changed and do change the point of attack constantly.
During the victory, Junior Joltin Harrison Joltin Harrison 6'2" | SG Volunteer | 2023 State TN (jersey #5) ran the floor late, the game well in-hand, flushed the ball down the bowl.
Harrison’s line reveals his wonderful night: 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 1 block.
Big picture, Harrison is a handful for traditional bigs because of his speed and eagerness to initiate early offense. Chasing him is surely irritating.
Late free-throws washed away any Morristown West hopes of recovering from their deserved deficit. Specifically, left-handed senior Heath Miller shots repeatedly splashed in the pond o’ plenty a single point at a time. He was solid as a rock with his fourth quarter handle despite elevated, desperate, late-game pressure from the Trojans.
