5) Paul Lewis Paul Lewis 6'1" | PG Bishop O'Connell | 2022 State VA | 6’1” | Bishop O’Connell (#14 Overall)
The former Maryland commit has changed his game this year for the success of his team, going from being an alpha scorer to being more of a floor general that has helped put his teammates in positions to succeed while also scoring it when he needs to. Lewis is best described as a competitor as he brings it against the best of the best, he can score it from multiple levels off the bounce and has exceptional range from deep and he has excellent vision and playmaking ability off the bounce. He’s one of the top available guards on the east coast and his willingness to change his game to help his team shows a lot for a point guard.
4) Devin Ceaser Devin Ceaser 6'1" | CG St. Stephen's & St. Agnes | 2022 State VA | 6’1” | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes (#11 Overall)
Ceaser started to blow up last year despite the SSSAS season being cancelled due to coronavirus when he played in a few CBG events, and the blow up continued when he was one of the hottest names at the DMV Live in June where he picked up double digit offers with his play. He’s a different type of athlete as he has one of the best bursts I’ve ever seen is one of the fastest players end-to-end with the ball in his hands in the country, he comes at you over and over again and never gives you a break and defensively he can fly all over the place and jump passing lanes and make plays. He chose to head to Buffalo over a lot of other schools, and if he can continue to polish and learn the game he’ll be a big name in the MAC.
3) Kanye Clary Kanye Clary 5'11" | PG Massanutten | 2022 State VA | 5’11” PG | Massanutten (#10 Overall)
Clary has been one of the top guards in the state for years now, and he has Massanutten as one of the top post grad teams in the country and they’ll likely have a chance to go to the National Tournament where he can display his excellent scoring and playmaking ability. The lefty guard is super crafty off the bounce as he can create space and has good body control to make tough shots in the midrange and at the rim, he has good vision and playmaking ability and sees the floor well and puts his teammates in positions to succeed and he can flat out fill it up and makes winning plays on both ends of the floor. He’ll head to Penn State where he should be a good fit with the way they let their guards go.
2) Donald Hand Jr. | 6’5” | Landstown (#7 Overall)
The Beach District Player of the Year and candidate for VA Gatorade Player of the Year may lead the state in scoring for the second straight season, and has Landstown in position to compete for a Class 6 state championship. The 6’5” combo guard is a walking bucket as he has good size at the guard position and is able to get to spots and make tough shots over smaller defenders, he is consistent from deep with good footwork to get open on or off the basketball and he has good instincts and body control when he gets downhill as he draws contact a lot and gets to the line for easy points. Boston College got an absolute steal with him in the staff’s first recruiting class and he’ll have a lot of postseason accolades as well.
1) Knasir McDaniel Knasir McDaniel 5'9" | PG Paul VI Cathlolic (VA) | 2022 State #126 Nation VA | 5’9” | Paul VI (#2 Overall)
“Dug”, as he’s known by teammates and coaches, has been getting it done in the WCAC for the past four years and has PVI set for a run at the WCAC championship and the VISAA D1 championship once again. While he isn’t the biggest guy on the floor, McDaniel is an absolute gamer and has shown time and time again he can dominate the game in a number of different ways against the best competition. He’s lightning quick off the bounce and is a blur in transition with the ball in his hands, he’s improved as a scorer in the midrange and from deep, he’s an excellent playmaker and leader who teammates like to play with and he’s a dog of a defender on the basketball. He’s heading to Michigan to join a number of former WCAC players that Juwan Howard has landed.
