Sectional 53: Southern Wells
The Teams: Northfield, Southern Wells, North Miami, Lakeland Christian, Smith Academy, Southwood
Our Contenders: Southwood, Lakeland Christian
Player To Watch: Micah Martin Micah Martin 6'3" | PF Lakeland Christian | 2025 IN (2025) – Lakeland Christian
Prediction: This Sectional really only comes down to two teams, Southwood and Lakeland Christian, who are on opposite sides of the bracket and have opening round games. Southwood has a slightly tougher road than Lakeland because they have to go through a tough North Miami squad once they get to the semis, who they should also beat. Lakeland Christian will have no issues going through both Smith Academy and host Southern Wells. In the finals, Lakeland Christian is simply the best team in this group and they should be able to beat Southwood in the final game. This will be the schools first Sectional championship in Lakeland Christian history.
Sectional 54: Attica
The Teams: Covington, Faith Christian, Attica, Clinton Central, North Vermillion, Lafayette Central Catholic
Our Contenders: Lafayette Central Catholic, Covington
Player To Watch: Clark Barrett Clark Barrett 6'5" | SF Lafayette Central Catholic | 2022 State IN (2022) – Lafayette Central Catholic
Prediction: After Lafayette Central Catholic gets past Clinton Central in the opening round, whoever wins the Lafayette Central Catholic/Covington semi game will likely be the Sectional 54 winner. The draw was real bottom heavy and up top, Faith Christian should wipe the floor with a 0-20 Attica team (who is also the host), and then barely squeak by North Vermillion in the semis. I think the final matchup will be Covington and Faith Christian with Covington winning their 5th Sectional Championship in the last 6 years.
Sectional 55: Wes-Del
The Teams: Tri-Central, Cowan, Liberty Christian, Anderson Prep Academy, Wes-Del, Daleville
Our Contenders: Tri-Central, Liberty Christian, Wes-Del, Daleville
Player To Watch: Jake Chapman Jake Chapman 6'3" | SF Tri-Central | 2022 State IN (2022) – Tri-Central
Prediction: The Daleville Broncos got a very good draw here with only having to go through Anderson Prep Academy (1-19) and Cowan (4-15) to get to the finals. On the other side is out other 3 contenders with Wes-Del having a bye and playing the winner of Tri-Central and Liberty Christian. Liberty Christian has a bit more talent that Chapman would have to beat so I them to meet Daleville in the finals. I also like Liberty Christian to also beat Daleville in the finals as well. The core group of Eric Troutman Eric Troutman 6'1" | PG Liberty Christian | 2023 State IN , Adonis House Adonis House 6'7" | PF Liberty Christian | 2022 State IN , and Zack Jeffers Zack Jeffers 6'1" | PG Liberty Christian | 2022 State IN is going to be the best trio in the group by far.
Sectional 56: Blue River
The Teams: Randolph Southern, Union (Modoc), Blue River, Union City, Seton Catholic, Tri
Our Contenders: Randolph Southern, Tri, Blue River, Seton Catholic
Player To Watch: Mason Harvey Mason Harvey 6'7" | PF Seton Catholic | 2024 State IN (2024) – Seton Catholic
Prediction: Four out of the six teams here could win Sectional 56. The host, Blue River, got a very good draw here having to go by Union City (6-15) and then Union (Modoc) (2-16). The other side is a real tossup with our other three contenders with Tri getting the bye and playing the winner of Randolph Southern and Seton Catholic. I think we are gonna get a Seton Catholic/Blue River final and since Seton Catholic has been on a roll as of late, I think they get it done and win Sectional 56.
