Before highlight those still standing among the unbeaten, let us first take a look at the programs that have recently suffered their first defeat.
Bishop Chatard caught the Prep Hoops Indiana jinx the worst as they have now lost three straight games to fall from the ranks of the unbeaten. They actually still have a game on the schedule against undefeated Monroe Central as well. Peru lost their first game of the season to Warsaw back on January 15th and now sit at 12-1 overall. Central Noble and Eastside, two of the undefeated teams at our last update, both knocked each other out in the matter of a few days. Central Noble knocked off Eastside on January 15th before falling to them on January 21st. Lastly, Carroll (Flora) recently suffered their first loss of the year on a buzzer-beater at North White.
Chesterton High School (16-0)
Travis Grayson Travis Grayson 5'10" | PG Chesterton | 2022 State IN continues to make a strong push for Indiana All-Star consideration as the senior guard is averaging nearly 20 points per game to go along with over six assists. The Trojans have upcoming tests with Warsaw and Portage, but a date with Valparaiso on February 18th is probably the toughest game standing between them and an undefeated regular season.
John Glenn High School (17-0)
John Glenn pulled off what was probably a bit of an upset the other day knocking off Mishawka Marian. Now, their game scheduled for Saturday afternoon against Penn will be their biggest test the rest of the way. Led by junior forward Brycen Hannah, the Falcons are absolutely a contender in the Class 3A North.
Monroe Central High School (15-0)
The Golden Bears may be the most unlikely unbeaten team still standing. Over Christmas break, Monroe Central upset both Connersville and Bloomington North to win the Connersville Tournament. They also have wins over Northeastern and Eastern Hancock who are two of the other best Class 2A teams in east central Indiana. Senior guard, and Taylor University commit, Jackson Ullom Jackson Ullom 5'11" | PG Monroe Central | 2022 State IN is averaging over 15 points per game to lead the team.
Lake Station High School (14-0)
The team most flying under-the-radar on a statewide basis is the Lake Station Fighting Eagles. They just keep on winning. Matchups with Munster and Portage will make it tough to finish their undefeated season, but to this point they have been perfect. Most impressively, this team does not have a senior. Four juniors average double-figures: Romeo Guerra (17.1 ppg), Willie Miller Willie Miller 6'2" | PG Lake Station | 2023 State IN (16.9 ppg), Adam Eastland Adam Eastland 6'2" | PG Edison Jr Sr | 2023 IN (15.2 ppg), and Armoni Gonzalez (11.6 ppg) have been excellent this season.
