Rankings are subjective and PrepHoops.com ranks purely upon potential and where the player will be at their basketball peak. Production factors in only when helping prove the potential is greater or lesser. Why did we rank these guys? Why are they at this spot? Take a look at five Class of 2022 prospects and learn a little about their reputation.
Peruse the complete 2022 rankings.
#91 Devin Mixon Devin Mixon 6'2" | SG Webb School Of Knoxville | 2022 State TN (Knox Webb)
Devin starts again for a strong Knoxville Webb team, helping primarily as a slasher/defender. His performance might be understated, but his impact will not be. Exceptional defensive instincts. In June, facing East Hamilton High, Devin was the first guy to the floor when a scramble play presented itself. There was no hesitation. This kind of effort is emblematic of Devin’s style of play. Good hips. Devin can swivel like a cornerback, which really helps him keep in front of smaller, seemingly quicker guards. Webb does not need him to be a big scorer, but it is an interesting question to consider. Can he score big buckets at the next level? The handle is fine for him to contribute as a complimentary ball-handler. Because Webb lacks a true post presence, Mixon is often asked to defend bigs or forwards. He is capable, but this is not really what he will be asked to do in college.
#92 Ahqzeea Martin Ahqzeea Martin 6'0" | PG Columbia Central | 2022 State TN (Columbia Central)
No guards are more invaluable to their basketball program statewide save Chandler Jackson Chandler Jackson 6'5" | CG Christian Brothers | 2022 State #87 Nation TN and J.J. Wheat J.J. Wheat 6'0" | PG Clarksville | 2022 State TN . Ahqzeea “Q” Martin does everything needed to win for a team that occasionally teases Top 10 in our AAAA rankings. Martin is a physical specimen with years of varsity starting experience. His toughness couples wonderfully with his refined and sparkling skills. Considering his season thus far, Martin is probably grossly underrated by us. He has “DII program backbone” potential, much like P.J. Smith (Lee University) proved last year.
#93 Keyron Crawford Keyron Crawford 6'6" | SF Briarcrest Christian (FB) | 2022 State TN (Briarcrest Christian-football)
Like many of the football wings we feature, Keyron is an exceptional athlete with a wonderful basketball body, if not a little heavy for the college wing spot. Because he trains hard for football virtually-year round, Crawford lags behind his peers in basketball-specific skills such as outside shooting and handles. He projected as a Top 50 guy before this academic year began, as the football intentions became crystal clear. Regardless, Keyron was certainly a wonderful college basketball prospect and could help a college on a walk-on basis even if he plays football as his primary.
#94 T.J. Freeman T.J. Freeman 6'3" | SG Memphis Overton | 2022 State TN (Overton)
T.J., also known as Terrell, is a vital key to the successful Memphis Overton Wolverine’s. He can pull down 7-8 rebounds. He won’t get the media shine of Jherron Jones, Isaiah Regular Isaiah Regular 6'7" | PF Overton | 2022 State TN or Jordan Frison Jordan Frison 6'0" | PG Overton | 2023 State TN , but Freeman is excellent defending, hitting the boards, and generally bringing consistent energy.
#95 Jarrod Taylor Jarrod Taylor 6'1" | CG Salem | 2022 TN (East Nasvhille)
Powerful combo guard, Jarrod Taylor Jarrod Taylor 6'1" | CG Salem | 2022 TN is spearheading yet another exceptional East Nashville high school basketball season alongside Jaylen Jones Jaylen Jones 6'0" | PG East Nashville | 2023 State #178 Nation TN . Jarrod is putting together a eye-popping statistical campaign: 20.1 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 3.4 apg, 3.3 spg. High-character guy. Taylor, like everyone in this quintet has 3 years of varsity starting experience.
