Several players have used the season as an opportunity to springboard up the rankings. In this article, we take a look at some players set to rise in the upcoming rankings.
Jaylin Philips Jaylin Philips 5'10" | SG Desert Oasis | 2022 State NV 5’10 PG Desert Oasis 2022 (#104) – I familiarized myself with Phillips game a little this summer when he played for All Vegas. After getting a long look at him during the high school season, it’s clear that he deserves a bump. The PG has good wiggle, and has shown the ability to break down defenders on a consistent basis. Expect him to move up and out of the 100’s in the rankings.
Jordan Morency Jordan Morency 6'4" | PG Bishop Manogue | 2023 State NV 6’0 PG Bishop Manogue 2023 (#12PHN 2023) – Morency has played well for the Miners. He leads the team in assists and has shown that he can be a shooter and scorer. I saw him early in the year and was impressed with his improved shot selection and decision-making. He also performed well in a matchup against #1 Bishop Gorman. Currently sitting at #12, the junior guard is making a strong case for breaking into the top 10.
Ethan Goon Ethan Goon 6'7" | PF Bishop Manogue | 2023 NC 6’7 PF Bishop Manogue 2023 (#29PHN 2023) (featured image) – Goon has a lot of skills that fit today’s prototypical small-ball four. He stretches the floor and has the ability to catch and finish around the basket. Goon has put together a solid junior-season for the Miners, averaging double digits in points, and almost 6 rebounds per game.
David Nealy David Nealy 6'2" | SG Stranahan | 2026 #27 Nation FL 6’3 PG Bishop Gorman 2024 (#5PHN 2024) – Richardson has his eyes squarely on the top spot of the 2024 rankings. The PG has put together a tremendous season, brilliantly straddling the line between scorer and playmaker. He’s one of the top two-way players in the state, using his long arms to harass, defenders, get deflections and force turnovers. His combination of speed, explosion, and shooting ability have him set to rise.
Kaeden Castillero Kaeden Castillero 6'0" | SG Liberty | 2024 State NV 6’0 PG Liberty 2024 (#26PHN 2024) – Castillero will probably rise for two reasons his shooting, and his shooting accuracy against top competition. Castillero has been one of the state’s top snipers. Castillero is good for about two threes per game and fits seamlessly into the system of one of the top teams in the state.
Kevan Wilkins Kevan Wilkins 6'4" | SF Red Rock | 2025 State NV 6’3 SG Valley 2025 (#14PHN 2024) – Wilkins’ size and shooting ability are perfect for a stockriser. The freshman has had a terrific season for Valley averaging nearly 14ppg. He’s always been a player that can shoot the ball, however, he’s now added rebounding to his skill set. Behind a strong freshmen campaign, look for him to make a rise in the rankings.
Conner Sheets Conner Sheets 6'1" | CG Spanish Springs | 2025 CA-N 6’0 PG Spanish Springs 2025 (#16PHN 2025) – Much like Spanish Springs, Sheets has had a remarkable season. The freshmen PG was thrown into the fire and has responded. Sheets is going to move up partly because he validated what I saw from him during the grassroots season. He’s a highly-skilled, high IQ guard that understands how to make the right plays to help his team.
