The Dillon HS Wildcats made the trip down to Pawleys Island to play the Waccamaw HS Warriors. The Wildcats held off the Warriors 52-42after leading by as many as 20 points this evening. Demarco Bethea Demarco Bethea 6'7" | SF Dillon | 2022 State SC led the way with 20 points and 15 rebounds according to my unofficial stats. Amari Dingle chipped in with 10 points.
Shyheim Smalls Shyheim Smalls 5'11" | SG Waccamaw | 2022 State SC , Xander Fairbanks Xander Fairbanks 6'3" | PF Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach | 2023 State SC and Ryan Cote led the Warriors in scoring. Smalls scored 9 points while Fairbanks and Cote both added 8 points apiece. The Warriors with the loss will still take part in the playoffs next week. It looks like they will be heading off to play Brookland-Cayce HS.
The Pee Dee Academy previously beat the Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach Saints last week. This week the host Saints had other ideas. Pee Academy entered the game with a (16-1) record today. The host Saints were not nice guest to the Eagles from Marion County tonight. Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach defeated the region rival 51-42 to move to (14-3) on the season.
Fisher Darden Fisher Darden 6'2" | CG Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach | 2022 State SC an unsigned senior and freshman Jack Green Jack Green 6'3" | SG Christian Academy Of Myrtle Beach | 2025 State SC led the way with 14 points apiece. Darden a good-sized guard was able to finish with his left-hand on a regular basis tonight at the rim when not making the short mid-range jumper.
Green a left-handed shotting guard is very confident for his age. Jack was able to take in few charges when he wasn’t diving on the floor. Green connected on 4 three pointers today.
The Eagles relied on the 1-2 duo of Cameron Weston Cameron Weston 6'2" | SG Pee Dee Academy | 2022 State SC and Hudson Spivey Hudson Spivey 6'4" | SF Pee Dee Academy | 2023 State SC to keep them in the game tonight. Weston finished with 12 points while Spivey added 11 points and a lot of rebounds. Weston a wing player was able to knockdown some perimeter jumper while Spivey spent most of the night down in the paint.
Watch out come tourney time for these two teams to make some noise in Sumter at the SCISA Class 2A State Tourney.
