With our final rankings update for 2022, we had a lot of movement throughout the class and finished at 140 ranked players for 2022. Here’s a look at the final top ten with this last update.
Mitchell Rylee Mitchell Rylee 6'8" | C Covington Catholic | 2022 State KY , Covington Catholic – The bruising big man from northern Kentucky finishes his career in the top spot. Headed to Miami (OH) next season, Rylee has gone from a little used backup at Beechwood to a Division I signee over the course of his career. In his Senior season, Rylee has been averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds per game for one of the best teams in the state and are expected to make a run at Rupp Arena.
Turner Buttry Turner Buttry 5'11" | PG Bowling Green | 2022 State KY , Bowling Green – Headed to Eastern Kentucky in the fall, Buttry has established himself as one of the best shooters Kentucky has seen in recent memory and plays with a high IQ at the point guard spot. Turner has taken a leadership role with a young and rebuilding Bowling Green squad and has them sitting atop the 4th region when many thought they would have a down year.
Colin Porter Colin Porter 5'11" | PG Ashland | 2022 State KY , Ashland – Porter recently reclassified from the 2023 class and will enroll at Liberty this fall. He’s battled injuries this season but still has Ashland among the top teams in the state this season. Colin is a playmaker who is dynamic with the ball in his hands and is capable of scoring 40 or creating 40 points for teammates.
Maker Bar Maker Bar 6'9" | C Ballard | 2022 State KY , Ballard – Maker has had a quiet career but is a difference maker for the Bruins and could be the key to a run to Rupp next month. Maker is going to play his college ball at Missouri Kansas City where he should continue improving. His size and skill set is unique in Kentucky and if Ballard wins a state title it will be because Bar made the difference.
Justin Becker Justin Becker 6'6" | SF Robertson County | 2022 State KY , Robertson County – Becker has scored over 3,000 career points and pulled down over 1,100 rebounds in his career at Robertson and has probably the most decorated career of anyone on this list. A three time 10th region player of the year, Justin has signed to play at Thomas More for college.
Jevonte Turner Jevonte Turner 6'2" | CG Knox Central | 2022 State KY , Knox Central – Originally a 2021 prospect, Turner has a chance to be a four time regional player of the year in the 13th region. He’s one of the quickest and most explosive athletes in the state and could lead Knox to a 4th straight regional title next month. He’s undecided on his college destination.
Dez Lindsay Dez Lindsay 6'6" | PF Male | 2022 State KY , Male – Another player who was originally a 2021 recruit, Dez has really elevated his game in the last year. Lindsay has great size and athleticism as a 3 or 4 who can score from the perimeter or around the bucket. Dez hasn’t announced a college destination yet and will play AAU this spring as an unsigned Senior.
Brady Bell Brady Bell 6'6" | SF Russell | 2022 State KY , Russell – The 6’6 wing from Russell continues to see his stock rise and has earned several college offers over the last few months. One of the leading scorers in the state, Bell is shooting over 50% from the field and over 41% from three this season and has had several highlight dunks this season. He is still undecided on his college destination.
James Jewell James Jewell 6'6" | PF Marion County | 2022 State KY , Marion County – James has had a really good career, splitting his time between Louisville Eastern and Marion County. This season he has transitioned to playing on the ball more on offense and is improving as a ball handler and overall scorer. Jewell still has among the highest ceilings in the 2022 class and his time at Chipola College should help him to continue developing as a player.
Christian Spalding Christian Spalding 6'4" | PG Evangel Christian | 2022 State KY , Evangel Christian – Jewell’s former teammate at Eastern, Christian has moved on to Evangel for his Senior season and has become more of a facilitator and less of a scorer with so many weapons on the Eagles roster. Spalding’s ultimate college destination is still to be determined but he has held D1 offers for a while now.
