Top Fliers
Tash Lunday Tash Lunday 6'5" | PF Flandreau | 2022 State SD (2022) |6-5 F|
18 points, 7/9 ft’s, 3 triples. He is a physical beast and an animal on the boards. Tash is great at drawing contact and getting to the line. He was tough on the offensive glass. He looks like a big post player but Lunday handles the ball a ton on the perimeter. Tash has a great first step that he uses to attack close-outs. Lunday can score from deep and in the paint. He showed off his range with a crazy-tough college range 3-ball early in the 4th quarter. Lunday is a top player in all of South Dakota.
Chase LeBrun Chase LeBrun 6'5" | SG Flandreau | 2022 State SD (2022) |6-6 F|
16 points, 4 triples. He stretched the D and showed his athleticism. Chase is long and athletic. He can shoot over almost any defender and was hitting hits shots. I like his finishing ability, LeBrun had a sweet reverse layup. I have not heard how many rebounds he grabbed, but Chase was grabbing them like crazy. He can nail 3-balls off the dribble and off the pass.
Alex Anderson (2022) |5-10 G|
3 points, 1 triple. He looked like a thief on defense when picking off passes. His shooting stroke looks solid with the potential to stretch the floor.
Liam Streitz (2022) |6-3 G|
6 points, 2 triples. He showed slick footwork with a step-through finish. Streitz can shoot it from beyond the arc and he has the potential to take some pressure off LeBrun and Lunday.
Paul Parsley Paul Parsley 6'3" | SG Flandreau | 2025 State SD (2025) |6-1 G|
He is super young but knows his role. This youngster is cutting his teeth at the high school level and he has a bright future.
Luke Sheppard Luke Sheppard 6'4" | SF Flandreau | 2026 State SD (2026) |6-1 G/F|
4 points. He held his own with the Sioux Valley veteran players. Luke scored 4 points and looked good doing so. He created TO’s and battled on D. He does not look like an 8th grader out on the court. There is nothing but upside for the young Sheppard.
Top Cossacks
Hayden Ruesink Hayden Ruesink 6'5" | SF Sioux Valley | 2022 State SD (2022) |6-5 F|
25 points, 2/4 ft’s, 5 triples. He was monumental for Sioux Valley on Thursday. Hayden had a steal on the first possession of the game and he drilled a catch and shoot 3-ball shortly after. Hayden hit 4 more 3-pointers after that and he did it with precision. Vincent was great at penetrating and finding Hayden for good looks. Ruesink did his job in the zone D and he also blocked a shot in the 3rd quarter. Ruesink was hot in the 3rd quarter with three triples. He had a crucial play in the 4th with an AND1 bucket. Hayden was fantastic in the win over Flandreau.
Oliver Vincent Oliver Vincent 6'1" | PG Sioux Valley | 2023 State SD (2023) |6-1 G|
14 points, 2/2 ft’s. He showed off his skills with a behind-the-back step-back jumper. Oli had many great passes to the high-point scoring Ruesink. Vincent looked good with a drive and a short running jumper from 6-feet. He showed off his sick skills with a left-handed dime to Ruesink. Oli was deadly when the Cossacks went into a 1-4 low set. He broke down the defense and got a good look. He is automatic from the FT-line. Vincent took the role of creator and facilitator on Thursday. Oli does what it takes to win big games.
Alec Squires Alec Squires 6'10" | C Sioux Valley | 2024 State #280 Nation SD (2024) |6-10 C|
4 points, 2/2 ft’s. He scored early off a sweet pass from Puetz. I like how Squires attacks the ball when rebounding. Alec is excellent at contesting and challenging shots. He had a big rebound late in the game to help seal the victory. Squires also knocked down clutch FT’s to ice the game.
Damian Danzeisen (2022) |6-1 G|
10 points, 2/2 ft’s, 2 triples. He hit a 3-ball early to start the scoring in the game. Damian looked smooth coming off the screen, setting his feet, and drilling the 3-ball. He looked skilled later in the came when throwing a left-handed pass off the dribble. Danzeisen showed off his shooting range with a beyond college range 3-pointer. He is a great compliment to the other Cossack players.
Parker Puetz Parker Puetz 6'3" | SF Sioux Valley | 2022 State SD (2022) |6-4 G|
2 points. He threw crisp passes with zip on them. Puetz had an impressive drive and bounce pass to Squires that led to an easy bucket for the big man. I thought Parker rebounded well out of the zone defense for Sioux Valley. In the 4th quarter when the Cossacks needed a bucket Puetz had a timely cut and finish.
