Hey, it happens, and there was no way it was going to stay the same.
Here are my 5 thoughts on the new top 10.
Alijah Curry Alijah Curry 6'8" | PF Camden | 2024 State #314 Nation NJ deserved to be back inside the top 2
The sophomore forward has made strides this season at Memphis East on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he’s contesting shots at the rim. Curry is even blocking some of them. Offensively, the 6-foot-8 forward can make shots from the perimeter and is dangerous in pick-and-roll situations because of his ability to make shots from 3-point range.
Givens stays in the top 3
After leading his team to a No. 2 seed following Friday’s win at Briarcrest, Curtis Givens III has made it clear that he’s one of the top prospects at the guard position in this class. He can score the basketball better than a lot of prospects in the class. Not only can Givens make shots from the perimeter, but he’s also reliable at the free throw line. Against the Saints, Givens was a perfect 6 for 6. He also recorded two blocks while guarding point guard Jaye Nash, who fell two spots to No. 4. Since his freshman season, Givens has carved his way into a reliable No. 1 weapon offensively.
This class is guard heavy, and each one is carving its own lane.
Emerson Tenner Jr. Emerson Tenner Jr. 5'11" | PG Cordova | 2024 State #265 Nation TN makes his way into the top 6
Tenner has been the most impressive prospect inside the top six this season. He’s had a lot of responsibilities on a Cordova team that’s young and not very talented. Tenner is a pass-first point guard like Nash, but he had to become more of a score-first point guard since there have been too many moments Tenner’s teammates haven’t been able to make shots. For the regular season, the 5-10 floor general averaged 27.4 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.5 steals per game on 50.3 percent shooting. He’s at No. 6, and could move up with a productive summer.
Gilliland enters the top 10
Christian Gilliland Christian Gilliland 6'2" | CG ABC Prep | 2025 State NM has been on an offensive tear for Northpoint Christian this season. He has the confidence to make shots from the perimeter. Gilliland hasn’t relied on slashing to score the basketball. He’s been logging in minutes at the point guard and game by game, the comfort level has increased. For the season, Gilliland has averaged 24.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. He currently has the Trojans in the second round of the TSSAA Division II-A West Region Tournament.
Xavier Shegog Xavier Shegog 6'6" | PF Mt. Vernon | 2024 State GA has top 5 talent
The 6-5 small forward comes in at No. 9, but Shegog has already started his campaign to be a top five prospect in the class. Shegog is an underrated passer. He’s a patient scorer, has a high basketball IQ, and knows how to get his shots within the offense at Goodpasture. Shegog can put the basketball on the floor and take his defender off the dribble. He showed all of this in his team’s win over Memphis Overton earlier this season. Shegog’s future is bright.
