2023 Rankings: Stock Risers Inside the Top 100, Pt III
High school postseason play is in its final week as we take a look at Part III of the Stock Risers Inside the Top 100.
Isaac Dobie Isaac Dobie 6'3" | SG First Flight | 2023 State NC | 6’3 Shooting Guard | First Flight
Dobie finds himself inside the Top 40 of the 2023 class at No. 39 after taking home Conference Player of the Year honors following a 23-6 season at First Flight High. He’s a 6-foot-3 sharpshooter that can score off the bounce and off the catch that put up 19.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 2.3 apg while shooting 55 percent from the field and showing off his prowess on all three levels. He’s a prospect that MM/LM DIs and HM DIIs should take a look at. He produced 11 points in their final game of the season in the Sweet 16 of the NCHSAA 3A Playoffs against Northwood.
Nayshin Waller Nayshin Waller 6'3" | CG Wayne Country Day | 2023 State NC | 6’4 Guard/Wing | Wayne Country Day
Waller is one of two movers in the 2023 rankings from Wayne Country Day School following their fourth-consecutive run to the NCISAA 2A Final Four. He moves into the Top 50 at No. 42 with a boost in his performance on the wing for the Chargers in 2021-22. He showed off his ability to operate off the bounce and get to his spots with the ball in his hands while putting up 11.7 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.5 apg and 1.0 spg. As he improves his shooting on the perimeter, look for his stock to grow after shooting 37 percent (22-of-59) from behind the arc. He’s a versatile guard to keep eyes on.
Jordan Cooper Jordan Cooper 6'1" | CG Wayne Country Day | 2023 State NC | 6’1 Guard | Wayne Country Day
Cooper is another prospect in the Wayne Country Day backcourt that’s seen his stock rise into the Top 60 at No. 53 in the ranks. He’s improved his strength which in turn has allowed him to become quite the downhill threat when he gets his opportunities. He posted 12.5 ppg, 3.8 apg, 3.3 rpg and 1.8 spg in his junior season while shooting 36 percent (52-of-146) from 3-point land. He’s another name to watch for the Chargers with his ability to make plays in the paint for himself and others on the floor.
Josiah Watkins Josiah Watkins 6'3" | PG Piedmont Classical | 2023 State NC | 6’3 Point Guard | Burlington Christian Academy
Watkins was a leading name in the Burlington Christian Academy rotation in his junior year at the point guard spot. He led the way for his squad with 19.3 ppg, 5.9 apg, 5.2 rpg and 2.7 spg while showing off his ability to run the show. He’s a floor general that’s shown he can produce using his length and athleticism for the Royals. He’ll be a name to keep eyes on this grassroots season out of the Burlington area.
Anthony Breland Anthony Breland 6'3" | CG Moravian Prep | 2023 NC | 6’3 Guard | Charlotte Elite Academy
Breland has been an underclassman to watch in the Charlotte Elite Academy backcourt as their lead guard. He’s an electric guard prospect that put up 17.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.7 spg and 1.5 apg when on the floor in 2021-22. He’s a wiry guard that’s learning to find ways to make an impact when the ball comes his way. As he shows he can be an efficient/consistent 3-point threat, look for his recruitment to grow this spring/summer as he’s at the No. 60 spot as he’s one of the biggest risers.
Jordan Jones Jordan Jones 6'6" | SG Pine Forest | 2023 NC | 6’6 Guard/Wing | Pine Forest
Jones finds himself at a nice spot in the 2023 ranks after producing on the wing for Pine Forest High. He’s another one of the biggest risers in the class, moving from No. 159 into No. 63 in the rankings following a productive season and playoff performance in his junior season. He exploded for 33 points and nine rebounds despite their overtime loss to Richmond County in the Sweet 16 of the NCHSAA Playoffs. He averaged 12.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.5 apg and 1.4 spg as an option in the rotation this season. He’s starting to turn a corner at the right time as the grassroots season approaches.
Tymaureon Outlaw Tymaureon Outlaw 6'8" | PF The Burlington School | 2023 State NC | 6’7 Forward | Person
Outlaw is a slight mover from No. 81 to No. 64 in the 2023 class following his play with Person High in 2021-22. He’s an intriguing blend of athleticism and skill that turns heads with his ability to rack up double-doubles, attack the rim and protect the paint. He’s a name that should grow this spring/summer on the grassroots season with his ability to change the game.
Malek Patterson Malek Patterson 6'3" | SF West Caldwell | 2023 State NC | 6’3 Forward/Wing | West Caldwell
Patterson is another game-changing forward that’s seen his stock grow a ton in the 2023 class from the No. 234 to No. 69 in the recent update. He’s a name that continues to be a factor in the West Caldwell rotation as they continue their push to the NCHSAA 2A State Title game. He’s posted 19.2 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 2.1 apg and 2.1 spg as a presence on both ends of the floor as they look to make their splash in the postseason. College coaches can catch him in action this Tuesday on the road against North Surry.
Ashton Troutman Ashton Troutman 6'7" | SF Uwharrie Charter | 2023 State NC | 6’7 Forward/Wing | Uwharrie Charter Academy
Troutman is a name that continues to grow in NC’s 2023 class with his ability to knock down shots on all three levels and utilize his size on the glass and paint-protecting front. He closed out the season with a 22-point effort against North Rowan to close out the season back on Feb. 24. He’s a scrappy forward that’s found his way down low and as a perimeter threat that colleges should get eyes on.
