Last week, we updated the 2022 rankings in Oklahoma and the class features some special prospects, especially at the guard positions. However, if you move outside of the top five, the forward position has some good depth and features several players that have not only been stars for their teams this season, but could potentially help lead them to state championships in March. In this post, we take a look at five of the very best forwards in the state and what makes them special within this 2022 class.
Ben Averitt Ben Averitt 6'5" | SF Jenks | 2022 State OK – Jenks (Ranked #11 Overall)
Our first prospect is one of the more improved players this season in Class 6A. Jenks forward Ben Averitt Ben Averitt 6'5" | SF Jenks | 2022 State OK has been a player that I’ve had the opportunity to see quite a bit this season and he’s never disappointed. He’s leading a Jenks team that is considered one of the best in the state in scoring and the combination of him with fellow senior Chase Martin Chase Martin 6'5" | SG Jenks | 2022 State OK has been tough for opponents to stop. In fact, nobody has had an answer for Averitt this year as he’s shown the ability to be a shooter as well as bang in the paint and fight for points there. Whatever Averitt needs to do on any given night, he’s answered that call.
Bradyn Hubbard Bradyn Hubbard 6'7" | PF Tulsa Memorial | 2022 State OK – Memorial (Ranked #13 Overall)
The Memorial Chargers are absolutely loaded for a state tournament run this year and forward Bradyn Hubbard Bradyn Hubbard 6'7" | PF Tulsa Memorial | 2022 State OK is big reason behind it. He’s averaging a double double and while he isn’t the leading scorer, he isn’t asked to be that guy for the Chargers. But when he is given the ball, he makes the most of his opportunities. He’s shooting nearly 60% from the field on the season. Let that number really soak in for a minute. In only 3 of Memorial’s 18 games has Hubbard finished lower than 50% from the field. He’s incredibly efficient and is primed to have a massive playoff run with the Chargers.
Caden Fry Caden Fry 6'7" | C Owasso | 2022 State OK – Owasso (Ranked #10 Overall)
In my opinion, Owasso is a dark horse to win the whole thing in Class 6A and it’s because of the progression of senior forward Caden Fry Caden Fry 6'7" | C Owasso | 2022 State OK . The Owasso big man has turned into an absolute monster that brings it every single night. We’ve seen Fry get off to a slow start and then absolutely take a game over in the second half. He’s gone up against some of the best competition, playing in the Frontier Conference and he’s held his own every single night. Fry has turned himself into a legitimate weapon in the post and will be a match-up nightmare for nearly every team that comes across the Rams.
Isaac McDoulett Isaac McDoulett 6'6" | SG Tuttle | 2022 State OK – Tuttle (Ranked #15 Overall)
Another prospect that we’ve written about quite a bit in the last two months is Tuttle’s Isaac McDoulett Isaac McDoulett 6'6" | SG Tuttle | 2022 State OK . The Tuttle big man is arguably the biggest reason why the Tigers are once again considered contenders in an absolutely wide open Class 4A race. McDoulett is another walking double double and has put up some monster numbers in the points category this season. And while we’ve written quite a bit about McDoulett, it also seems that his biggest performances have come in the biggest games for Tuttle this year. That should prove to be very helpful for the Tigers in March.
JV Seat JV Seat 6'3" | SF Edmond Memorial | 2022 State #250 Nation OK – Edmond Memorial (Ranked #6 Overall)
Our final forward prospect is the highest ranked of the group. We did the list alphabetically. Edmond Memorial and Abilene Christian signee JV Seat JV Seat 6'3" | SF Edmond Memorial | 2022 State #250 Nation OK has been so important to Edmond Memorial over the last several years and this year is his turn. After the graduation of Sean Pedulla, it was time for Seat to establish himself as the next big name to come out of this storied Edmond Memorial basketball program and it’s easy to say that he’s done just that. He’s an incredibly physical player that is leading the Bulldogs in scoring and has them primed for not only another state tourney run, but a chance to add another gold ball to the trophy case.
