Similar to the past couple of weeks, we spent some time watching games livestream in addition to attending a few. Here’s a look at the top freshmen, sophomores, and juniors we saw from four games – Roosevelt over Churchill, Sherwood over Liberty, Southridge over Westview, and Mountainside over Tigard.
Winters Grady Winters Grady 6'7" | SF Prolific Prep | 2025 #118 Nation CA-N , Lake Oswego
Lake Oswego dispatched McDaniel fairly easily and head coach Marshall Cho pretty much emptied his bench and everyone got a chance to contribute. But even with that, Grady shone. The 6-foot-6 was sharp with his shot both from mid-range and from three, and was strong taking it to the hole and finishing around the rim. The freshman has stepped up and become the Lakers most consistent offensive weapon. He finished with 19 points.
Utrillo Morris Utrillo Morris 5'8" | PG Roosevelt | 2024 State OR , Roosevelt
There’s no question that Morris is quick but what makes him equally difficult to cover is the fact he’s incredibly shifty and able to change speeds and direction in an instant. He constantly dribbled around defenders and either got to the basket or hit baskets off the move. He finished the night with 20 points on 9-for-12 shooting, 4-for-5 from three-point range, all while dishing out four assists against zero turnovers.
Chance White Chance White 6'0" | CG Roosevelt | 2024 State OR , Roosevelt
With so much attention put on the exploits of teammates Terrence Hill Jr Terrence Hill Jr 6'3" | PG Roosevelt | 2024 State #183 Nation OR , Donatello Tupper Donatello Tupper 6'4" | SF Roosevelt | 2022 State OR , and Utrillo Morris Utrillo Morris 5'8" | PG Roosevelt | 2024 State OR , it’s tragic that the contributions of White are often overlooked. The 6-foot guard has been balling out all season long and really shone against Churchill. He attacked the basket, was sharp with his three-point shot hitting 4-for-8, and converted opportunities at the line. He tied for the team lead in scoring with Morris with 20 points.
Jared Sucher Jared Sucher 6'4" | SG Sherwood | 2023 State OR , Sherwood
Sucher is a walking bucket and has the ability to heat up in an instant. He got things going early against Liberty from the outside sinking a couple of threes, which then opened things up for him to score off the drive. It wasn’t just about shooting for the 6-foot-3 junior though as he did some good work on the boards with nine rebounds and also did a good job of moving the ball, picking up a couple of assists in the process.
Carter Fortune, Southridge
Fortune has been rock steady at the point for Southridge this season and while he remains at his best driving and finishing around the hoop, especially to his left, the 6-foot-2 point guard has also gotten much more confident shooting from the outside. He started off knocking down a couple of threes and then switched up to attacking the basket, not just for himself but also getting the ball to open teammates. He wound up with 14 points and three assists in the win over Westview.
Quinn Haveman Quinn Haveman 6'3" | SG Mountainside | 2024 State OR , Mountainside
All season long, Haveman has been Mountainside’s go-to guy on defense as he’s often taken on the other team’s leading scorer. At 6-foot-2 with plenty of motor, this has often worked well and it was again the case against Tigard. But Haveman also got it done offensively, scoring 11 points on a variety of strong baseline drives to the hoop and knocking down perimeter shots. His all-around play also led to him stuffing the stat sheet with three rebounds, three assists, and a couple of steals and blocks.
Malik Brown Malik Brown 6'0" | PG Tigard | 2023 State OR , Tigard
With brother Kalim Brown Kalim Brown 6'0" | CG Tigard | 2023 State OR and Tigard’s leading scorer not playing, Brown had to step up with his scoring and he did it in a way that didn’t take away from his normal playmaking self. He hit jumpers from the outside and also converted some tough drives to the basket, drawing contact and getting to the line. As noted, the 6-foot point guard still looked for teammates and would up with a handful of assists. Brown finished with 15 points.
Sawyer Wolf Sawyer Wolf 6'3" | SG Tigard | 2023 State OR , Tigard
Another guy who stepped up offensively in the absence of Kalim Brown Kalim Brown 6'0" | CG Tigard | 2023 State OR was Wolf. The 6-foot-3 wing showed off a smooth stroke from three and also used his physical strength to drive and finish some tough layups around the hoop. He was one of the top rebounders on the team and shared team-high in scoring with 15 points.
