Brent Moss Brent Moss 6'5" | SF Lima Sr | 2022 State OH (Lima Senior)
Moss is a prospect that has been mentioned on multiple occassions by my Prep Hoops colleagues. Finally seeing him myself, I can see why there is so much hype. The 6-foot-6 SF had a beautiful chase down block off the backboard and impressed me as a defensive threat. His athleticism was on full display as his leaping ability and rim protection is what stands out. As Moss continues to develop his offensive game, I agree he can be a scholarship athlete no doubt.
Gabe Pavlak Gabe Pavlak 6'6" | SF Bellbrook | 2022 OH (Bellbrook)
Pavlak’s return has brought good things for the Bellbrook Golden Eagles. In a big time matchup with perennial power Moeller, Pavlak created plays for himself on the defensive end as he timed some passing lanes to get transition dunks. Ultimately finishing with 15 points, Pavlak proved to me he deserves to be looked at by D3 programs across Ohio as his size and scoring capabilities make him an impressive prospect.
Evan Mahaffey Evan Mahaffey 6'6" | SF Moeller | 2022 State #160 Nation OH (Moeller)
Mahaffey has impressed me thoughout his career as one of Cincinnati’s best defenders. While he still does this, I’ve been impressed with him taking a role of being a scorer and showing he can contribute consistently on the offensive end. The 6-foot-6 Penn State commit put up 17 points against Bellbrook and did it in a variety of ways. The midrange jump shot looks improved and crisp. His leaping abilities and long arms makes him very tough to box out and keep off the glass. As long as Mahaffey can stay healthy, he’s got a chance to help this Moeller team get back to the Regional/State tournament.
Connor Marklay (Moeller)
Marklay isn’t going to jump off the page with his numbers. Heck he only scored 9 points in the Bellbrook win. So why is he here? Marklay has stepped into a role at Moeller of being the facilitator. He makes the extra pass or sets the ball screen for the other players to allow the offense to keep moving. Rarely do you see players willing to accept this role and he appears to hone in on this watching him in the livestream. His ability to buy in and be a part of what Moeller wants to do makes him such a unique player and one I think college coaches would be willing to check out.
