Today we are going to look at some who are standing out whether from an impact level, statistical level, or both. These guys so far may not be the biggest household names in the state….yet.
Colin Frazier, 6’4 W, Ark City, 2025: Has shown massive flashes of his upside and ability so far this season. His length has been able to affect shots at the rim, defend well, and provide resistance on defense. Has shown his shooting ability as well, especially off the catch, and has made plays off the bounce in transition as well. As more minutes are logged the more seasoned Frazier will get.
Cam Schmidt, 6’1 G, Burrton HS, 2025: Has been on an absolute tear and making waves as a freshman for Burrton. Currently averaging 28.8 points, 2 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game, already hitting 33 threes this season in 6 games and shooting over 40% from the line. Schmidt is keeping them in a ton of ball games as they sit at 2-4 currently, but this highly electric young guard is a name to watch not only this year but in the seasons to come.
Landon McPhail, 5’11 PG, Ashland HS, 2024: A long armed guard that plays with a high basketball IQ and really hard. Is a really solid defender on the ball and in help highlighted with his nearly 1.5 steals per game including a 3 steal game earlier in the season. Fills a bunch of needs for them as well including rebounding from the guard spot where he averages nearly 7 a game. Can score the ball from multiple areas on the floor as well and leads Ashland in scoring at 15 a game.
Bryce Beisner Bryce Beisner 6'7" | PF Beloit | 2024 State KS , 6’5 F, Beloit, 2024: Although in our rankings, Beisner has kind of flown under the radar out at Beloit but he is putting up some monster numbers to start the season, as his improvement over the grassroots season is beginning to flash. The long inside out forward is currently averaging 15 points, 5 rebounds, almost 2.5 blocks per game. Is currently shooting a massive 73% from the field as well.
Deven Butler, 6’3 G/W, Maize South, 2024: Maize South is loaded up with young talent and showing massive improvement and quietly (but not quietly anymore) Butler has been doing a ton to help speed up this growth process for this South team. Butler can guard the 1-4 positions, can play any spot on the perimeter on offense and is physical to play some spot forward minutes. Solid slasher, hits a couple of threes a game, and is savvy on defense. Averages 12 points and 6 rebounds per game.
Spencer Coup Spencer Coup 6'1" | SG Solomon | 2024 State KS , 6’ G, Solomon, 2024: Helping create the dynamic back court at Solomon, Coup has produced solidly this season, spreading the love across the stat sheet. Has shown the ability to play both off the ball and as the lead guard and continues to shoot it well. Averaging 9 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds per game.
Kalen Streit, 5’11 G, Bonner Springs, 2024: Springs has gotten off to a really solid 3-2 start this season, and Streit’s emergence in his sophomore season has played a huge factor into that. has been in double figures scoring in 3 out his 5 performances averaging around 11 a game including a 21 point outburst against Washington. Another young guard who is aggressive on defense and can get into ball handlers, averaging 1.4 steals per game.
