McBride Joins 1000 Point Club
Last night saw the Norwell Knights beat Fort Wayne Wayne Generals in a close game throughout, 54-47. The story of the night was that 2023 PG Luke McBride Luke McBride 6'1" | PG Norwell | 2023 State IN reached the 1000th point mark in just his junior season with his 20 point performance. McBride is not the biggest guard but he is extremely creative off of the ball creating shots for himself. With the win, Norwell moves to 9-3 on the year with a trip to Bellmont coming up on 1/14.
Homestead Beats Blackhawk In OT Thriller
This was hyped as the biggest game of the night and boy did it deliver. In overtime, Homestead went on the road to beat Blackhawk, who was unbeaten at the time, 69-62. Potential Mr. Basketball winner Fletcher Loyer Fletcher Loyer 6'4" | SG Homestead | 2022 State #108 Nation IN went off here with a 31 point performance and also became the fastest player in Homestead history to reach the 1000th point mark. Also notable performances from Homestead came from Andrew Leeper Andrew Leeper 6'6" | PF Homestead | 2022 State IN with 15 pts and Kyron Kaopuiki Kyron Kaopuiki 6'3" | SG Homestead | 2023 State IN with 14 pts. Gage Sefton Gage Sefton 6'4" | SG Blackhawk Christian | 2023 State IN lead Blackhawk with 19 pts. Homestead, now 10-4, will host Fort Wayne Snider on 1/14. Blackhawk, now 11-1, will look to bounce back when they travel to Fort Wayne Luers on 1/15.
Marion County Tourney Quarterfinals Set
The monster tournament of the Marion County Tourney kicked off last night with 7 huge games. Here are the results of the opening round: Southport beat Indianapolis Lutheran 73-60, Decatur Central beat Beech Grove 68-60, Brebeuf Jesuit beat Franklin Central 74-54, North Central (Indianapolis) beat Indianapolis Roncalli 66-43, Park Tudor beat Speedway 58-47, Ben Davis Lawrence North 77-48, and Pike beat Lawrence Central 76-74. The quarterfinals are set and will happen tonight with Southport at Decatur Central, Brebeuf Jesuit at North Central (Indianapolis), Park Tudor at Ben Davis, and Perry Meridian at Pike.
