We were able to get eyes on a featured game on the slate between the talented rosters of Shawnee Mission Northwest and Olathe Northwest as well as recaps, highlights, and tape on many games going on across the state. Here is the 1/4 roundup.
SMNW wins Big Over Olathe NW
Player of the Game
Landon Wagler Landon Wagler 6'8" | PF Shawne Mission Northwest | 2022 State KS , 6’5 W, 2022, SMNW (Pictured): A ton of firepower was on display last night for SMNW who shot the ball extremely well, and a ton of it centered around the tremendous start for Wagler. Scoring 27 points in the win, Wagler had his entire versatile arsenal rolling which included step back 3’s, catch and shoot 3’s, running the floor for layups, and attacking off the bounce. Wagler set the ton early and often. He is a prospect that needs to be on way more eyes. Wagler was 11 of 12 from the field and 4 of 5 from 3, played brilliantly.
Other Names to Note
Damare Smith Damare Smith 5'10" | PG Shawnee Mission Northwest | 2022 State KS , 5’11 PG, 2022, SMNW: On the night continued to show why he just gets it when it comes to running the point at a high level. Got to his spots and played pretty well on offense, knew when to find open teammates, and threw a beautiful full court pass to a streaking Wagler for a layup early on to push open a big early lead. Got to the free throw line and made 5 of 6. Had 15 points and 6 assists for the game with only 1 turnover.
Dante Wheatcroft, 6’5 W, 2022, SMNW: Had himself one of his best games of the early season and jumped in on the hot shooting train going 6 of 7 from the field and 4 of 5 from 3 for 17 points in the game. The lefty had a nice and 1 finish as well through contact, but his 3 point shooting should be a huge X Factor going forward.
Zaid Dajani Zaid Dajani 6'4" | CG Olathe Northwest | 2022 State KS , 6’4 G, 2022, Olathe NW: Dajani and his ONW squad came out flat and could not recover, but the talented scoring 2 guard finished with 28 in the ball game and provided a scoring punch. After the first quarter or so was able to get into more a rhythm and get to his spots off the dribble and knock down some shots and finishes in the painted area.
Malik Oatis, 5’11 PG, SMNW, 2023: Brings a ton of energy and sneaky productivity to the floor. Is a key cog in the SMNW machine on both ends of the floor. Had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals in the ball game, and his consistency will be key for them moving forward.

Kellan Simoneau Kellan Simoneau 6'2" | PG Rose Hill | 2023 State KS , 6’1 G, Rose Hill, 2023: The younger memeber of the talented Rose Hill trio paced himself throughout this game dropping 12 but made a ton of plays for his teammates. Continued his stat stuffing throughout the stat sheet as well as he rebounded and shared the ball well.

Displayed a master class of moving without the ball and always being ready to shoot the ball.
Parker Allen, G, Ft Scott, 2022: Allen drilled a three from the wing at the buzzer to give Ft Scott their first win of the season. The 2022 guard is a really solid player who has played well this season despite the record. Plays really hard on both ends of the floor.
