Elsewhere around the state, there are a couple of big matchups in northern Indiana, an intriguing contest in Fort Wayne, and a couple of greater Indianapolis area games outside of the “city.” Let’s take a look at five games you will want to follow tonight.
Ben Davis @ Decatur Central
These westside rivals will go at it this evening as they try to get back on track after Marion County Tournament losses. Ben Davis made it to the final before falling to North Central by one point while Decatur Central was knocked out by Southport in the quarterfinals. Javon Tracy gives the Hawks plenty of firepower with his 20.2 points per game, but the depth of the Giants backcourt will likely be the difference in this one. K.J. Windham K.J. Columbia City @ Homestead
Columbia City will travel to Sectional 6 foe Homestead this evening to take on Fletcher Loyer Fletcher Loyer 6'4" | SG Homestead | 2022 State #108 Nation IN and the Spartans. Junior guard Andrew Hedrick Andrew Hedrick 6'0" | PG Columbia City | 2023 State IN is having an excellent season for the Eagles to lead them to a 9-3 record. Mason Baker Mason Baker 6'3" | SF Columbia City | 2022 IN and Jaxon Crawford Jaxon Crawford 6'4" | SF Columbia City | 2022 IN provide some size and strength on the wings as well. However, only one team has Fletcher Loyer Fletcher Loyer 6'4" | SG Homestead | 2022 State #108 Nation IN . The future Purdue Boilermaker is averaging 27.1 points per game and remains a front runner for the Mr. Basketball award.
Mishawaka Marian @ Culver Academy
Two of the better Class 3A teams in the state will go at it tonight as 10-2 Marian travels to 7-2 Culver Academy. Richard Brooks Richard Brooks 6'3" | SF Mishawaka Marian | 2022 State IN versus Cooper Farrall Cooper Farrall 6'5" | SF Culver Academy | 2023 State IN will be the matchup to watch in this one. Brooks is averaging 15.1 points per game for the Knights while Farrall is putting together an Indiana Junior All-Star caliber season for Culver Academy. Deaglan Sullivan Deaglan Sullivan 6'2" | PG Mishawaka Marian | 2023 State IN is another one to watch as he leads Marian in scoring at 16.8 points per game.
South Bend St. Joseph @ NorthWood
This is another high-profile Class 3A matchup in northern Indiana this evening. Freshman wing Chase Konieczny Chase Konieczny 6'4" | SG South Bend Saint Joseph | 2025 State #277 Nation IN leads the Indians at over 20 points per game with senior guard Cole Hatkevich Cole Hatkevich 5'11" | PG South Bend St. Joseph | 2022 State IN not far behind at 17.8. Those two can really fill it up in a hurry. NorthWood is up to #2 this week in the Prep Hoops Indiana Class Rankings at 13-1 on the season. High-scoring junior guard Cade Brenner Cade Brenner 6'3" | SG NorthWood | 2023 State IN is the one to watch for the Panthers along with 6’5″ junior forward Ian Raasch Ian Raasch 6'6" | PF NorthWood | 2023 State IN .
Mount Vernon (Fortville) @ Lawrence Central
Class 4A #10 Mount Vernon will take on the Bears of Lawrence Central tonight. LC is just 5-7 on the season but have a couple of impressive wins on their home floor. Vernon-Fortville | 2022 State IN avreaging 15.7 and 15.5 points per game.
