Tuesday night featured some great games across Oklahoma. Two of the better games in the Tulsa area went to overtime. Several classes had top ten teams facing off against one another. In this post, we take a look at some of the top results from Tuesday night and some of the top individual performances from Tuesday night’s action. In arguably the game of the night, 6A’s #1 Jenks escaped Union 72-70 in overtime. You can read all about that game RIGHT HERE.
BARTLESVILLE 77, OWASSO 74 (OVERTIME)
In addition to Jenks-Union going to overtime, go north up Highway 169 and we also had Bartlesville escaping Owasso 77-74 in another overtime thriller. The Bruins were once again led by super sophomore David Castillo, who finished with 24 points for Bartlesville. However, he had plenty of help around him. Two other Bruins finished in double figures as Bartlesville improved to 5-4 on the season and bounced back from their loss to Booker T Washington in the tournament final on Saturday.
Bartlesville finally got an overtime victory on Tuesday after losing to Jenks and Union earlier this season with both games going to OT. However, the Bruins used a balanced attack on Tuesday night to take down the Rams. Bartlesville will play Sand Springs and Bixby before playing in the Carl Albert tournament next week. Owasso has a tough stretch coming up as they’ll face Booker T Washington and Jenks before going up to Kansas for a tournament next week.
COLLINSVILLE 52, COWETA 51
In Class 5A, we had a top ten showdown in Collinsville as the #6 Cardinals hosted #4 Coweta. Despite trailing at halftime, the Cardinals would rally to knock off the Tigers 52-51 in a game that was close throughout. Coweta’s six-game winning streak was snapped on Tuesday night as they couldn’t get out of Collinsville with the road win after winning the Locust Grove tournament a week ago. This win for the Cardinals could help them out with playoff seeding next month.
EDMOND NORTH 56, MOORE 54
In another top ten battle, this time in Class 6A, it was #7 Edmond North knocking off #5 Moore 56-54 in another close contest. These two teams were meeting for the second time in four days after Edmond North knocked off Moore on Saturday to win the Putnam City Invitational. The Lions had a chance to potentially send the game to overtime but Edmond North standout sophomore Dylan Warlick Dylan Warlick 6'6" | SF Edmond North | 2024 State #226 Nation OK would block the game-tying shot and give the Huskies their fourth consecutive victory.
PUTNAM CITY NORTH 58, PUTNAM CITY WEST 42
In one of the more surprising final scores from Tuesday night, #10 Putnam City North dominated #4 Putnam City West in a 58-42 victory. This game was tied at 10 after the first quarter and it was all Panthers after that. PC North would outscore the Patriots 18-4 in the second quarter to run away with the lead and they would never be threatened from there. PC North 2023 guard Zander Baker Zander Baker 5'10" | PG Norman | 2023 State OK continues to have a breakout season, he led the Panthers with 25 points on Tuesday night.
TUTTLE 41, BETHANY 35
The up and down season continues for #6 Tuttle as they knocked off #10 Bethany 41-35 on Tuesday night. After losing to Weatherford in the tournament title game on Saturday, the Tigers bounced back with the big win on Tuesday. We’ll learn more about this team later this week when they take on Heritage Hall in yet another top ten match-up in Class 4A. 2023 guard Garrett Redwine Garrett Redwine 6'1" | CG Tuttle | 2023 State OK continues to have a stellar junior season. He led the Tigers with 19 points on Tuesday.
UPSET OF THE NIGHT
McLOUD 58, MOUNT SAINT MARY 56
Unranked McLoud knocked off 4A’s #6 Mount Saint Mary 58-56 on Tuesday night. After starting the season 5-0, Mount Saint Mary has now lost four games in a row, including Tuesday night’s loss to McLoud. McLoud lost the first round game of the Henryetta tournament last week but have won three in a row, including their upset over Mount Saint Mary. They’re now 7-4 on the season.
