Red River top performers
Reis Rowekamp Reis Rowekamp 6'4" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2023 State ND – In the game against the Packers on Tuesday night junior Reis Rowekamp Reis Rowekamp 6'4" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2023 State ND scored a cool 36 points for the RoughRiders. In the win, Rowekamp showed off his complete skillset by hitting six shots from beyond the arc, pulling up in the mid range, and taking it to the hoop. One thing that impressed me a ton was Reis’s ability to be patient on the offensive end and wait for things to materialize instead of forcing the issue, showing an impressive basketball IQ. There is no doubt in my mind that as the season progresses, this third year out of Grand Forks will continue to improve and thrive.
Zach Kraft Zach Kraft 6'2" | PG Grand Forks Red River | 2023 State ND – Another junior that played great in the win against West Fargo is Red River sniper Zach Kraft Zach Kraft 6'2" | PG Grand Forks Red River | 2023 State ND . On Tuesday night Kraft put up 27 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, and showed off a complete arsenal of talent. Whether it was finding a teammate with his court vision, sniping a shot from deep, or showing off a nice dribble move before taking it to the rack, Zach had his way with the Packers defense. Like his classmate Reis, I expect Kraft to continue to improve as the season moves along.
Paine Parks Paine Parks 6'3" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2022 State NDRounding out the “Big 3” for Red River is senior stud Paine Parks Paine Parks 6'3" | SG Grand Forks Red River | 2022 State ND . Against West Fargo Parks had 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 steals. I would also like to mention that the RoughRider went perfect from beyond the arc going a perfect 3/3. This performance is no surprise coming from Parks because of how consistent he has been all season in every facet of his game. Scoring the ball from anywhere, snatching tough rebounds in the paint, finding opening teammates, and being active on the defensive end is not just something Paine did against the Packers. It’s something he has been doing and will continue to do as the season grows older.
West Fargo top performers
Nick Carlson Nick Carlson 6'4" | SF West Fargo | 2022 State NDNick Carlson Nick Carlson 6'4" | SF West Fargo | 2022 State ND , like I predicted, has been one of the most improved players in the EDC thus far. This was apparent in Tuesday nights game against the RoughRiders as the senior forward went for 21 points on 54% shooting. This performance comes as no surprise as Carlson has been a key for the Packers all year bringing scoring ability as shown in last nights game, athleticism on both ends of the court, and hustle. Watch out for Nick to make more noise as the season continues.
Carson Hegerle Carson Hegerle 6'3" | SG West Fargo | 2022 State NDContinuing his solid senior season against Red River was the always entertaining Carson Hegerle Carson Hegerle 6'3" | SG West Fargo | 2022 State ND . Against the RoughRiders the Packer guard had 20 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. He was also efficient from the three point line, going 4/6. Carson is a smart player who plays at a controlled pace when scoring the ball, can create opportunities for others with his playmaking, and is active on the ball while playing defense, all things that he showcased this past Tuesday. As a guy who was key in winning the State championship last year for the Packers, expect Hegerle to continue to be an important piece as West Fargo looks to repeat.
Brett Limke Brett Limke 6'1" | PG West Fargo | 2022 State NDRounding out the “Big 3” for West Fargo is senior sniper Brett Limke Brett Limke 6'1" | PG West Fargo | 2022 State ND . The high IQ guard totaled 18 points, 3 assists, and four made shots from beyond the arc in the loss to Red River. As the guy who leads this Packer team in scoring for the season, and has been a lethal shooter from beyond the arc like he was against the RoughRiders, this stat line is impressively normal. Brett is the floor general for this West Fargo team and plays the game with amazing pace, picking his spots well and running the offensive with high efficiency. Although he and the team fell short against RR, this is merely a bump in the road for Limke and the reigning champs.
