Halfway through their junior years what prospects have separated themselves to be among the best at their position? Take a look at the Top 2023 Point Guards!

[player_tooltip player_id="939050" first="Darrin" last="Ames"] (Kenwood)

Current Ranking: #1

Ames takes over the top spot in the rankings after it was vacated by his former teammate. Left handed scoring combo guard that is electric with the rock in his hands. He wins off the bounce with his smooth handles and slick acceleration through traffic. Range on his shot to beyond three where he can hit off the catch and loves pulling up. Speed plays well in transition with his ability to push past defenders. He has that electric ability you look for in a top notch prospect!

[player_tooltip player_id="939057" first="Dalen" last="Davis"] (Whitney Young)

Current Ranking: #5

Davis has had a very solid junior campaign to date for the Dolphins. High IQ and stocky lead guard that is the leader of the CPS power from the guard spot. Does a good job of getting others involved with his passing and reading defenses in the half court. He has also displayed some scoring pop in primetime games that we hadn’t previously seen. Rock solid and steady guard!

[player_tooltip player_id="1048307" first="Ahmad" last="Henderson"] (Brother Rice)

Current Ranking: #12

Henderson is one of the more fun players to watch in the 2023 class. The smaller lead guard is a scoring dynamo! He can light up the scoreboard in a hurry! Shifty ball handler that wins with his three point game draining deep pull ups along with breaking down opponents for nifty layups. Competitive guard that you want with the ball at the end of the game!

[player_tooltip player_id="989268" first="DeAndre" last="Craig"] (Mt. Carmel)

Current Ranking: #13

Craig is a scoring stocky point guard that has been the leader of one of the most pleasant surprises of the first half of the season in Mt. Carmel. He has been outstanding as a downhill scorer while also showing growth as a shooter at the same time. Colleges are starting to open their eyes to the Caravan guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="989274" first="Brock" last="Harding"] (Moline)

Current Ranking: #15

Harding has excelled as a junior for Moline. Love watching him lead them at the point getting his array of shooters the ball off dribble penetration while also find his opportunities to get his points. Plus shooter that has a crisp pull up game and an array of nifty finishing moves at the hoop.

[player_tooltip player_id="939059" first="Jalen" last="Griffith"] (Simeon)

Current Ranking: #16

Griffith has been very good all year long for the Wolverines. He has ran the show and done so by setting his array of weapons up whether it is shooters, pushing ahead in transition, or feeding his big men in positions they can do damage.

[player_tooltip player_id="939079" first="Sonny" last="Williams"] (Niles Notre Dame)

Current Ranking: #17

Williams is a smooth ball handler that is a quality bucket getter from the point. He can score from all three levels with an adequate jumper and ability to finish with either hand at the rack. Solid size and projects as a low-major plus/mid-major guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="994687" first="Kaiden" last="Space"] (St. Rita)

Current Ranking: #21

Space has had an up and down first half of the season. Playing more off the ball as he shares ball handling duties with the state’s top sophomore floor general. Stocky frame allows him to finish well at the rim and he has had some games where he racked up big assist numbers. Three point shot wasn’t quite at where we saw it during the summer.

[player_tooltip player_id="939063" first="Tevonta" last="Jackson"] (Springfield Lanphier)

Current Ranking: #22

Jackson is a slick and slender point guard from central Illinois that plays well off his athleticism. Love how he gets out and runs in the open floor weaving in and out of defenders. What we liked when we saw him in the early going of the season was how well he shot it from mid-range and three. More consistent than previously.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048315" first="Troy" last="Cicero"] (Romeoville)

Current Ranking: #23

Cicero is a wiry point guard that can score from multiple levels which was shown during the fall and first part of the high school season. I think the aspect that stands out most about his game is his mid-range. Loves utilizing floaters and runners to finish over taller defenders. Crisp pull up shooter that stops and pops on a dime.

[player_tooltip player_id="939076" first="Xavier" last="Sulaiman"] (Marist)

Current Ranking: #26

Lengthy combo that shoots it well from distance. He has a nice handle off the bounce being able to get where he wants on the floor to get his shot off. More of a scoring guard that can beat defenses with his three level scoring pop.
