The Tournament Of Champions has come and gone and Del City captured the tourney title with an exciting 59-49 win over Memorial in a top five battle between Class 5A powerhouses. After trailing 20-5 following the first quarter, the Eagles would rally back and eventually ran away with the tourney title. Keep it locked into Prep Hoops Oklahoma where we continue to have plenty of post-tourney coverage. In this post, we take a look at some of the players who might have been flying under the radar before the tournament began but did not shy away from shining bright on the big stage.

[player_tooltip player_id="1142031" first="Austin" last="Frazier"] - 2022 Guard - Cashion

He's the only senior to make the "breakout star" list and that's Cashion guard [player_tooltip player_id="1142031" first="Austin" last="Frazier"]. However, we couldn't help but be very impressed with Frazier throughout the three days in Tulsa. Whenever we think of Cashion, it's easy to start the conversation with senior guards [player_tooltip player_id="1164862" first="Jonah" last="Jenkins"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1164863" first="Vance" last="Raney"]. Rightfully so, those two have been so important to Cashion's success and give the Wildcats one of the best 1-2 punches in 2A basketball. However, with Raney struggling at times from the field and Jenkins clearly beat up from physical play, we saw Frazier picking up the slack and making play after play. Despite going 0-3 in the tournament, the Wildcats have a lot to build on going into the rest of their schedule. It should be mentioned that Cashion had only played one game prior to the tournament. Their best basketball is ahead of them.

[player_tooltip player_id="1358852" first="Cal" last="Furnish"] - 2025 Guard - Crossings Christian

The lone freshman on this list is Crossings Christian guard [player_tooltip player_id="1358852" first="Cal" last="Furnish"]. He got everyone's attention on Tuesday when he hit a game-winning shot to give Crossings Christian the win over Cashion. And as if that wasn't enough, Furnish would follow up that performance with a stellar game on Wednesday against Victory Christian in what could very well be a state tournament game preview. Furnish led the Knights in scoring as they knocked off the Conquerors to win the 5th place game. He was not afraid of the moment as the Knights won a game that they arguably shouldn't have been competitive in. They were without star senior [player_tooltip player_id="955383" first="Reid" last="Lovelace"] and another starter and it didn't matter. Furnish was ready for the moment and didn't back down from filling it up.

[player_tooltip player_id="1358850" first="EJ" last="Lewis"] - 2023 Guard - Owasso

Owasso was led by senior forward [player_tooltip player_id="955380" first="Caden" last="Fry"] throughout the tournament and he ended up being one of the leading scorers of the event. However, joining Fry throughout the tournament making big play after big play was junior guard [player_tooltip player_id="1358850" first="EJ" last="Lewis"]. While some of the other players on this list are on here for what they were able to do on the offensive side of the ball, Lewis is on here for what we saw from him on defense. Lewis was one of the better on-ball defenders that we saw from the guards throughout the tournament. During the third place game against conference rival Jenks, Lewis was a big problem for the Jenks guards and created several turnovers that led to easy points. The Rams have something here in Lewis, who is an athletic disrupter and will be a problem for opposing ball handlers.

[player_tooltip player_id="1357063" first="Percy" last="Green"] - 2023 Guard - Del City

Del City is one of the more athletic and long teams in the state, regardless of class. However, the one thing that they've been searching for early on this season is a consistent threat on the perimeter. They might have found that in yet another junior standout with guard [player_tooltip player_id="1357063" first="Percy" last="Green"]. It didn't take long for Green to establish himself as a sharpshooter at the BOK Center as he knocked down shot after shot in Del City's tournament-opening win over Crossings Christian. Green would go on to have a strong tournament and when you combine that with fellow guards [player_tooltip player_id="1356632" first="Jaedon" last="Foreman"] and [player_tooltip player_id="981287" first="Terry" last="McMorris"] as well as junior big man [player_tooltip player_id="1068562" first="Brandon" last="Garrison"], the Eagles have the firepower to make another run at the state title. They showed that by beating Memorial in the TOC title game.
