Leader. Braeden Carrington Braeden Carrington 6'4" | SG Park Center | 2022 State #141 Nation MN of Park Center. I would continue to say that Carrington is the leader but this race is really tight. Carrington had a great half against Totino-Grace but a rough second half. Responded to PC’s first loss with a blowout of Spring Lake Park and Braeden had 16. PC continues to be number one in Class AAAA with Braeden leading the way.
Final Five
Demarion Watson Demarion Watson 6'8" | SF Totino-Grace | 2022 State #150 Nation MN of Totino-Grace. Watson leads TG in scoring, blocked shots, is second in rebounding, and leads the team in big moments late in games. We saw a couple early in the season but that second half against Park Center hitting those last five shots (three threes) with seven blocks and eight boards, huge game. Followed that with four more threes and 22 points against a top Wisconsin team.
Kendall Blue Kendall Blue 6'6" | SG East Ridge | 2022 State #242 Nation MN of East Ridge. The Raptors are one of the top few teams in Class AAAA and Kendall is leading the way. Blue is averaging 24 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three steals a game for a top team. Just went over 1,000 points for his career and has a lot of big games coming up.
Alonzo Dodd Alonzo Dodd 6'2" | CG South St Paul | 2022 State MN of South St. Paul. The Packers have had a change in coach but the team hasn’t skipped a beat. That’s because of Dodd, the coach on the floor. The point guard, top defender, top creator, top scorer, top rebounder, etc etc. SSP is undefeated still.
Eli King Eli King 6'2" | PG Caledonia | 2022 State #151 Nation MN of Caledonia. King has had some huge moments as of late and had another on Tuesday. In a top five battle of unbeatens, Caledonia crushed PEM with Eli leading the way scoring 22. They have another big game tonight against Rushford-Peterson and then a huge game against Totino-Grace on Saturday.
Tre Holloman Tre Holloman 6'2" | PG Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State #57 Nation MN of CDH. I’m warning you, don’t forget! CDH has now crept back over .500 and are starting to catch a groove. Tre had 16 points and 13 assists last night and there are a lot more chances for Tre to have big games in the near future. Had that 36 point game against TG recently as well.
Top Ten.
We need four more. Start with…
Jackson Loge Jackson Loge 6'7" | C Morris Area | 2022 State MN of Morris Area. Jackson has his team undefeated and he’s putting up monster numbers. Is likely one big moment away from joining the group above.
Muja Burton Muja Burton 6'4" | SF Columbia Heights | 2022 State MN of Columbia Heights. Scoring 25-26 a game for an undefeated team. Good CH balance overall, Burton is the main scoring option.
Carter Bjerke Carter Bjerke 6'9" | C Wayzata | 2022 State MN of Wayzata. At 19 points and 11 rebounds a game playing for a top team working to defend their state title, I would say Carter is about ninth on the list.
My 10th. Tough to pick between Willie Wilson Willie Wilson 6'2" | CG Minneapolis North | 2022 State MN of Minneapolis North, Nick Katona Nick Katona 6'6" | SF Shakopee | 2022 State MN of Shakopee, Ayden McDonald Ayden McDonald 6'4" | PG Omaha Central | 2022 State MN of Hibbing, Sam Rensch who has been outstanding lately, and the surging BJ Omot BJ Omot 6'8" | PF Mankato East | 2022 State #231 Nation MN of Mankato East and Pharrel Payne Pharrel Payne 6'9" | C Park Of Cottage Grove | 2022 State #84 Nation MN of Park.
