Drew Edmond Drew Edmond 6'0" | PG Brookfield Central | 2023 State WI – 2023 – PG – Brookfield Central
Edmond was faced against Hamilton’s best player and one of the top scorers in the state. The junior guard did a terrific job pretty much all night, never letting him get comfortable. Edmond’s defensive effort allowed Central to claw back in the game as he created stop after stop. Edmond did a great job of making his man work for everything he got, knew where his help was coming from, and never really got beat after the first couple of possesions of the game. Edmond also scored 11 points, many of which came in the first half when the Lancers were suffering through a dry spell. It was Edmond who gave them some life initially. Edmond also knocked in two free throws late to ice the game.
Aidan Konop Aidan Konop 6'2" | SG Sussex Hamilton | 2024 State WI – 2024 – G – Sussex Hamilton
After two viewings this season, Konop looks very undervalued in this state. In the second half, he drew Rohde on offense and went right after the Division 1 recruit. Finishing with a team-high 21 points, Konop scored 14 of those after halftime. Konop was poised throughout and elevated his game during crunch time. Despite the loss, the sophomore guard put the Chargers on his back in the final five minutes or so. Konop plays with excellent pace and feel for the game. Not going to wow anybody athletically, but beats people with skill and floor awareness. After getting his shot blocked twice, Konop threw in a variety of different finishes that looked very clean and evaded shot blockers. He’s more of a downhill creator, but Konop did connect on two 3-pointers got to the free throw line on six occasions in the second half.
Bennett Murray – 2022 – PF – Brookfield Central
Murray came up with 16 points for the Lancers in the win. The senior forward put the ball in the hole in a variety of ways. Murray can step out and shoot the basketball a bit. A strong post prospect who can play physical, Murray was able to catch in traffic and finish through contact. Throughout the game, Murray moved well off dribble penetration. He’d catch his man leaving in order to provide help, step into an open area, and make himself available for easy dump-in passes.
Andrew Rohde Andrew Rohde 6'6" | SG Brookfield Central | 2022 State WI – 2022 – SG – Brookfield Central
Just when you think he’s going to get held down and suffer through an off night, Rohde exploded for 22 second half points to lead the Lancers back from a 20-point deficit. The St. Thomas commit finished with a game-high 29 and absolutely went off after halftime with a flurry of 3-point shots. Hamilton threw different bodies and different looks at Rohde all game long. Even when he wasn’t scoring, loved that he was still impacting the game. Rohde made the right passes out of double teams, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished out six assists. It took one make in the second half before he heated up like an oven and there was nothing the Chargers could do except hope he missed. At 6-foot-6, Rohde can simply rise and fire over most defenders with ease. If defenders aren’t in his shorts on the catch, Rohde’s release is so quick and smooth, any challenge just won’t faze him. When opponents try and run him off the line, Rohde can counter by setting up shop on the block or in the high post and play with his back to the basket. Playing his best basketball right now, Rohde has a chance to thrive at the mid-major level, especially after a few years in a collegiate strength and conditioning program as he fills out his lengthy, raw frame.
