The boys and girls event is put on every year by the local officials in the District 9 area. Let’s take a look at some of the Top Performers from the day right here on source for basketball coverage in the Palmetto State.

Jaden Sanders Jaden Sanders 6'1" | SG Laurence Manning | 2022 State SC – Laurence Manning Academy (pictured on front)
Sanders is really starting to figure out things for the Swamp Cats. Jaden looked absolutely wore out this past week with all the minutes he logs for the Swamp Cats. Sanders is looking to ATTACK the basket every time he gets there with great explosion to the cup. Jaden plays the game one way and that is to the fullest at all times while on the floor. Jaden is very solid in the classroom academically.
Khalil Peoples Khalil Peoples 6'1" | SG Crestwood | 2022 State SC – Crestwood HS (Dalzell)
Khalil is just a hard playing guard that really doesn’t fit at point or shooting guard. Peeples a tough nosed guards likes to get the ball to the cup and doesn’t mind getting on the floor for loose balls. Peoples like Sanders spends a lot of time in the lane and around the cup finishing plays. Oh yeah, these two players were Grassroots teammates on Sumter Elite.
Kylic Horton Kylic Horton 6'5" | PF Clarendon Hall | 2022 State SC – Clarendon Hall (Summerton)
Horton will enroll at the University of South Carolina next fall to play football for the Gamecocks. Kylic is currently winding down his basketball career for the SCISA Class 1A Saints. Horton has filled out some since the summer and finished with 26 points in a loss to Kingstree HS.
Gerlante Robinson Gerlante Robinson 5'10" | PG Clarendon Hall | 2022 State SC – Clarendon Hall (Summerton)
Robinson is a new addition on the Saints roster this season after coming over from nearby Lake Marion HS. Robinson is the primary ball-handler for the Saints while scoring 22 points today in a loss to Kingstree HS. Robinson can create his own shot while looking out for others on the floor. The Saints have a nice 1-2 duo in the SCISA Class 1A ranks this season. Will it be enough to make some noise come February in Sumter?
Juniors
Corean Nelson Corean Nelson 6'0" | CG Crestwood | 2023 State SC – Crestwood HS (Dalzell)
Nelson has good body control going to the basket. Corean does a nice job of elevating on his shot. He will use a wide variety of ways to score the ball. Nelson likes to drop the floater, slash or knockdown a mid-range jumper.
Jehqwauyn Hilton Jehqwauyn Hilton 6'6" | SF Manning | 2023 State SC – Manning HS
Hilton played his best game I’ve seen him play in a while. Jehqwauyn looked engaged from the get-go around the paint area for the Monarchs. Hilton has a long wingspan to help him alter and challenge shots in the lane. He must still get stronger and play through contact better down the road. Jehqwauyn likes to face-up and feels comfortable playing from the elbow in on the floor. Hilton finished with 18 points in a win over Crestwood HS this evening.
Justin Daniels Justin Daniels 6'2" | PG Manning | 2023 State SC – Manning HS
Daniels really likes to play 94 feet up and down the floor. Justin has good explosion to the rack and athleticism to push the ball up in the floor in transition. Justin must improve on his perimeter shooting. Daniels a Quarterback in the fall on the football team is the playmaker for the Monarchs offense. Daniels came into the contest averaging 22 ppg, 4.3 assists and 5.9 rebounds. Justin finished with 20 points in the overtime win.
Sophomores
Cooper Kowalski Cooper Kowalski 6'9" | PF First Baptist | 2024 State SC – Stratford HS (Goose Creek)
Prep Hoops first saw the bouncy forward this summer with the Knights at the SCBCA Camp in Rock Hill. Kowalski has looked like he has grown some more since the summer. Cooper a rangy forward glides over the floor and shows some really good athleticism. He does a good job hitting the glass on both ends of the floor while keeping the ball up high after rebounding it. Cooper can play inside-out on the floor while knocking down some three pointers in the process.
