Continue ReadingWe are already around the mid-point of the Indiana High School Basketball season. Last week, we took a look at some of the top uncommitted guards and forwards in the Class of 2022. This week, we are turning our focus to the junior class with some stock-risers around the state. Let’s begin with five Class of 2023 guards that are garnering more attention this season.
Jaxson Gould Jaxson Gould 6'3" | SG Warsaw | 2023 State IN (Warsaw H.S. 2023): Gould is an excellent scoring guard that has played at a really high level this season. He can create his own shot at all three levels of the floor and recently earned an offer from Crossroads League powerhouse Bethel. I would expect this 6’2″ guard to continue cleaning up with offers at that level. I watched him score 30+ points in person early this season against Crown Point. Very talented offensive player.
Dylan Moles Dylan Moles 6'3" | PG Greenfield-Central | 2023 State IN (Greenfield-Central H.S. 2023): There aren’t many scorers as efficient as Greenfield’s Moles. The 6’3″ two-guard is averaging 18 points per game for the Cougars on impressive 54/44/92 shooting splits. Moles has an outstanding mid-range game and has the athleticism to get all the way to the rim and finish. Another Class of 2023 guard that should really see his recruitment take off heading into the summer.
Jaylen Mullen Jaylen Mullen 6'0" | PG North Daviess | 2023 State IN (North Daviess H.S. 2023): Mullen has spent this season proving that he isn’t just a good small school point guard or one of the better southern Indiana guards. He is one of the better lead guards in the state and is the primary reason North Daviess is 11-1 and ranked #1 in Class 1A. The 6’0″ guard should really start to capture the attention of fans around the state once tournament time comes around.
Sheridan Sharp Sheridan Sharp 6'2" | PG Ben Davis | 2023 State IN (Ben Davis H.S. 2023): Ben Davis has won 8 straight games and is one of the hottest teams in the state of Indiana. A big reason for their success is the point guard play of the 6’1″ Sharp. He is second on the team averaging 10.1 points and is dishing out a team-high 4.6 assists. Sharp is an excellent playmaker with great length which makes him tough on the defensive end as well.
Kamari Slaughter Kamari Slaughter 6'2" | SG Cathedral | 2023 State IN (Portage H.S. 2023): This long, athletic guard is putting together a great junior season while leading the Indians to a 10-2 record. The 6’4″ Slaughter is averaging 17.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He is one of the better rebounding guards in the state because of his size and it makes him an excellent finisher at the rim. It will be interesting to see how his recruitment takes off heading into the summer.
