This week, we are turning our focus to the junior class with some stock-risers around the state. We began this morning with five Class of 2023 guards that are garnering more attention this season. Now, we will look at five forwards who have turned heads this winter.
Zane Doughty Zane Doughty 6'8" | C Ben Davis | 2023 State IN (Ben Davis H.S. 2023): Doughty has as much upside as just about anyone in Indiana’s Class of 2023. He is a guy that Division I coaches need to really start recruiting. At 6’9″, the Ben Davis big man plays with constant energy, protects the rim, and is a tenacious rebounder. The Giants have won 8 straight games and are playing as well as anyone in the state. Doughty is a big reason why. He is averaging 9.4 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game. Someone offer this guy before the season is over!
Mason Jones Mason Jones 6'7" | PF Valparaiso | 2023 State IN (Valparaiso H.S. 2023): A versatile 6’7″ forward, Jones is averaging nearly 20 points a game for the 11-2 Vikings. His scoring prowess is a big reason why Valpo been one of the better teams in the state so far this season. Coming off of a 22-point, 7-rebound performance in a big win over Penn. Jones is a nice prospect for low-major Division I’s to keep an eye on in the back half of the season.
Nick Richart Nick Richart 6'9" | PF Zionsville | 2023 State IN (Zionsville H.S. 2023): Richart was already a high-level prospect, but after missing out on some summer exposure his recruitment is still just beginning to take off. The skilled 6’9″ big man has been excellent for Zionsville, one of the top teams in the state. He has great footwork, strong hands, and scores with his back to the basket in a variety of ways. Very good rebounder as well. He is averaging 9.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Reph Stevenson Reph Stevenson 6'7" | PF Hamilton Southeastern | 2023 State IN (Hamilton Southeastern H.S. 2023): This 6’7″ 4-man has a ton of upside and continues to get better each time I see him play. Stevenson is an above-the-rim finisher offensively with developing post moves and touch out to 15-feet. He continues to improve as a rebounder and rim-protector as well. Very intriguing prospect to follow. Averaging 11.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for HSE.
Brandon Trilli Brandon Trilli 6'5" | SF Munster | 2023 State IN (Munster H.S. 2023): Trilli already started to burst onto the scene over the summer playing for Indiana Game after moving to Indiana from Arizona. Now, the 6’5″ wing/forward is dominating the high school season for 8-2 Munster. He is averaging a team-leading 21.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Trilli is extremely versatile with a ton of skill around the basket. Has a knack for scoring the basketball.
