Here’s a look at some of the best small school players in Kentucky.
Jacob Meyer Jacob Meyer 6'2" | PG Holy Cross Covington | 2023 #170 Nation GA , Covington Holy Cross – Leading the state in scoring as a Junior and already committed to Western Kentucky for college, Meyer has had a ridiculous Junior season. One of the best dunkers in the state, Jacob is averaging over 40 points per game and is getting his buckets from all over the floor.
Justin Becker Justin Becker 6'6" | SF Robertson County | 2022 State KY , Robertson County – One of the front runners for Mr. Basketball this season, Becker probably has to be the most valuable player to his team in the state. Averaging 37 points and 13 rebounds per game, Robertson County has little to no chance of winning without Becker putting up those type of numbers every night out.
Teagan Moore Teagan Moore 6'4" | SF Owen County | 2023 State KY , Owen County – Recently celebrated for scoring his 2,000th career point, Moore has been filling up the stat sheets at Owen County for years and will threaten most of Carson Williams’ records by the time he graduates next year. A three level scorer, Moore excels at getting to the free throw line where he makes over 7 per game at an 82% clip.
Garrett Hayden Garrett Hayden 6'2" | SG Carlisle County | 2022 State KY , Carlisle County – One of the early headlines for the 2021-22 season was Hayden scoring 70 of his team’s 84 points in a win over Paducah Tilghman in the opening week of the season. The Senior could find himself in the 50-40-90 club as he’s currently shooting 50% overall, 44% from three and 81% from the free throw line.
Blake Reed Blake Reed 5'10" | PG Mason County | 2024 KY , Bracken County – Only a Sophomore, Reed is on track to end his career among the all time leading scorers in Kentucky history if he maintains his pace. Blake and his brother Cayden make up one of the toughest backcourts in the state and have propelled Bracken to a berth in the All A State tournament this week.
Jordan Akal Jordan Akal 6'1" | PG Harlan | 2022 State KY , Harlan – Another guard who has gone over 2,000 career points so far, Jordan has been a menace to opposing 13th region defenses for a while now and is likely to be the regional player of the year. Akal has “in the gym” range when he’s on fire and carried Harlan to the 13th region All A title last week.
