Below is Part IV in our review of players in the region who have recently put their name on the recruiting map.
Zaki Gomez – 6’1” / Senior / Norristown / East Coast Power / Combo Guard: Gomez is a high energy and versatile prospect who can score in bunches. Whether he is draining threes from the perimeter or using the bounce to get into the lane for a floater, Gomez (11.3 ppg.) is a problem for opponents. In the last couple of weeks, Gomez has been especially lethal, scoring 25 points (4 threes) vs. Boyertown; 17 points (5 threes) against a talented and undefeated Methacton team and 17 points (3 threes) vs. Pottsgrove.
Isaiah Milien – 6’0” / Senior / Academy of the New Church / Pro Level Titans / Combo Guard: Milien is a high percentage three-point shooter with deep range on his jumper (3 or more triples in multiple games). In addition to his perimeter shooting, Milien (7 ppg.) is ANC’s secondary ball handler and does a fantastic job when he slides over to the point guard spot. He is extremely effective in pick-n-roll action. At the other end he is a plus defender who is averaging 2.4 steals per game. Lately, Milien has posted several solid scoring game — 14 points on 4 threes vs. nationally ranked Westtown School; 14 points versus George School and 11 points (3 threes) against Friends Select.
Cooper Mueller Cooper Mueller 6'3" | SG Radnor | 2023 State PA – 6’1” / Junior / SJ Hoops Elite-Gray / Combo Guard: A Radnor native, Mueller spent the 2020-21 Covid season playing for Park City HS (Utah). He rejoined the Radnor program this past fall and he has been a welcome addition. Mueller (10 ppg.) is crazy athletic and plays with next level intensity. He can attack the rim off the dribble using his crossover or a smooth head & ball fake. Once at the tin, he can finish with either hand. To keep defenders honest, Mueller will knock down spot up threes. This month Mueller has recorded 20 points in a win over Upper Darby, 13 points in victory against Strath Haven and 11 points on three separate occasions. Defensively Mueller is plus player, as his quick hands and phenomenal lateral movement make this junior a lockdown defender.
Cameron Wallace – 6’4” / Freshman / Great Valley / K-Low Elite / Combo Guard: When Wallace posted a school single game scoring record of 40 points in only his second varsity contest, he set an extremely high bar for his 2021-22 season. So far Wallace has maintained that extraordinarily high level of play. This freshman is averaging 24 ppg., 11 rpg., and 2 spg. He excels not only as a scorer and rebounder, but also as a playmaker. Wallace is a transition game phenom, pushing the ball for buckets or to create for others. In the half-court he can score off the bounce or by slashing to the rim. With his size, speed and length, Wallace can defend multiple positions. In addition to his 40-spot Wallace has recorded games of 29 points, 26 points and twice he has hit for 24 points.
Jaylon Williams – 6’0” / Junior / Wissahickon / Combo Guard: With the graduation of superstar Matt Compas, Wissahickon needed to find new “go to” player for 2021-22. Williams has stepped up and done his best to fill that role. This 2023 prospect splashes home threes at an extremely efficient clip. Additionally, he can use the bounce to create scoring opportunities for himself or his teammates. On defense Williams’ quickness and ability to anticipate the opponent’s next move leads a steady stream of steals and deflections. Highlights for Williams this season include — 26 points (5 threes) against Upper Moreland; 13 points and 6 rebounds vs. Perkiomen Valley; 13 points against Cheltenham; and 10 points on the strength of 3 triples vs. Hatboro-Horsham.
