They are a deep squad so it’s hard to just pick one player that’s reasonable for their success. However Senior Wing Mikhail Pocknett Mikhail Pocknett 6'6" | PF New Hanover | 2022 State NC and Freshman Guard Rodmik Allen Rodmik Allen 5'10" | PG New Hanover | 2025 State NC have both contributed at a high level consistently.
Ari Fulton Ari Fulton 6'7" | SF Westover | 2024 State NC is taking the next step as prospect! The sophomore is not far off from averaging 20 & 10 for the season and he continues to progress at a nice level. He’s got the height and athleticism for a D1 wing prospect and he’s rounding out his offensive game on the perimeter as well.
Pinecrest Sophomore Julien Cole is growing up before our eyes! Early on in the season he seemed a bit indecisive on the court but over the past months he’s matured and gained confidence. He was big time for his team on Wednesday night in their win over RCHS and Pinecrest will look to him to continue to play this level of play.
The EE Smith Golden Bulls are one of the breakout teams of the year! They ended last season on a seven-game losing streak but came into this season with a new confidence and intensity from top to bottom of their roster. This year they have knocked off several teams that are expected to make deep runs in the playoffs as well as making an appearance at the Cumberland County Holiday Classic Championship.
Jack Britt Senior Demetri Patterson is one of the best unsigned bigs in the area! With a transformed physique to go along with a skillset that was already pretty impressive, he has put together a big-time senior season. Averaging 17 Points & 10 Rebounds per contest, Patterson can play inside the post but also pop out and knock down some shots. College coaches should definitely be dropping in to see the 6’7 big man!
Scotland County Junior Forward Lamonte Cousar Lamonte Cousar 6'6" | SF Scotland | 2023 State NC is making his case as a legit prospect! His team has struggled this season, but he has been a bright spot throughout the year. Standing at close to 6’6 with a pretty strong physique, he can make plays inside and out of the paint but the truly impressive part about his game is the fact that he still has plenty of upside left. If he can stay focused and continue to progress with his development, he will be a player that finds his name on plenty of college coaches list next season.
