Continue ReadingThis past week offered the ability to watch a lot of games due to the number of holiday tournaments. I watched the Wabash Valley Shootout on Monday, the Bob Wettig Memorial Tournament on Tuesday, the Paul Loggan Memorial Invitational on Wednesday, and both the Hall of Fame Classic and Phil Cox Memorial Tournament on Thursday. In total, I watched 20 games over the course of four days. Here are some of the evaluations from the busy week.
Jermaine Coleman Jermaine Coleman 6'7" | SF Park Tudor | 2023 State IN (Park Tudor 2023): Coleman continues to be one of the best two-way prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2023. The 6’7″ left-handed wing is an excellent three-point shooter and one of the most versatile defenders in the state. Extremely high upside prospect that just keeps getting better and better. He had a game-high 17 points on Wednesday as Park Tudor led North Central after three quarters.
Cameron Haffner Cameron Haffner 6'3" | SG Westfield | 2022 State IN (Westfield H.S. 2022): Haffner had an excellent tournament on Thursday as the Shamrocks defeated Connersville and Cathedral to win the championship. The 6’3″ guard can really shoot the basketball and earned himself a Division I offer from Eastern Illinois with his strong play. His size and athleticism along with his shooting ability makes him one of the best uncommitted guards int he state.
Grant Leeper Grant Leeper 6'7" | C Homestead | 2023 State IN (Homestead H.S. 2023): The 6’7″ Leeper continues to develop into a force around the basket for Homestead. He held his own very well against a big, physical Cathedral team on Thursday morning. Leeper collected 9 rebounds to go with 6 points in before following it up with 6 points and 5 rebounds in the evening. His athleticism and physicality make him an excellent defender and rebounder.
David Lloyd David Lloyd 6'4" | SF Indianapolis North Central | 2022 State IN (North Central H.S. 2022) Strong, physical 6’4″ forward with good skill around the basket. Very good finisher in the paint and can do it through contact. Has shown the ability, as he did Wednesday, to step out and make a three-pointer as well. Good small college prospect. Having a very nice senior season for North Central.
Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 6'3" | SG Brownsburg | 2024 State IN (Avon H.S. 2024): It wasn’t Lomax’s most active game as the size and strength of Floyd Central caused some difficulties around the basket for the thin sophomore. However, the overall ball skill is still very apparent. Lomax can get by his man off of the dribble anytime he wants and showcased continued improvement on the defensive end. The future is very bright for the Avon guard.
Jaiden Malichi Jaiden Malichi 6'8" | C Cathedral | 2022 State IN (Cathedral H.S. 2022): Malichi has put together an excellent senior season off the bench for Cathedral. He came in and scored 8 of his 10 points in the 4th quarter in Cathedral’s win over Homestead. The athletic, bouncy 6’8″ post player brings the energy off the bench at all times. Excellent finisher, runs the floor well, and rebounds outside his area.
Brady Moore Brady Moore 6'5" | SF Floyd Central | 2022 State IN (Floyd Central H.S. 2022): Moore is a physical 6’4″ forward with excellent finishing ability around the basket. Showed off the ability to drive it from the wings while also operating with his back to the basket. Will make a good small college 4-man. Good positional rebounder.
Caleb Washington Caleb Washington 6'5" | PF Floyd Central | 2023 State IN (Floyd Central H.S. 2023): This 6’4″ wing/forward is super skilled for his size and plays a physical brand of basketball. Put up a team-high 13 points in the Highlanders win over Avon. Washington is a very intriguing prospect that should attract more and more interest from all levels.
