CJ Yarian CJ Yarian 6'10" | C St. Ignatius | 2022 State OH , 6’9 C Saint Ignatius 2022: Yarian played the best game I’ve ever seen him play against an uber athletic Wheeler (GA) squad. Yarian was catching and shooting quickly from the corner and competing against athletic bigs for rebounds and around the basket. Despite recently committing to Hillsdale, it was still encouraging to see Yarian put this type of performance on the big stage. We’ll see if Yarian can continue this level of play the rest of the season and build some momentum into his freshman season.
Jacob Pleiman Jacob Pleiman 6'6" | PF Botkins | 2022 State OH , 6’6 PF Botkins 2022: Pleiman helped lead Botkins past Tri-Village in the small school battle of the event. Pleiman is a solid spot-up shooter at his size and his strength is a match-up problem with his strength against other small school teams. Pleiman and his younger brother Carter also help Botkins have one of the best defenses in Division IV, only giving up around 36 PPG. We’ll see where Pleiman ends up, he’s gotten a lot of Division II and NAIA interest while gaining a few offers.
Logan Woods Logan Woods 6'4" | SG Fairfield | 2022 State OH , 6’4 SG Fairfield 2022: Woods and his outside shooting ability helped bring Fairfield back against powerhouse STVM. Woods is a prototypical 3 and D prospect that could have a chance to play right away at the next level. Woods also has to guard up his position with Fairfield, as they typically play three other guards next to him. Wright State is bringing in another group of talented prospects from Ohio after having a lot of success with Aj Braun and Keaton Norris as freshman this season.
Elmore James Elmore James 6'4" | SG Brush | 2022 State OH , 6’4 SG Brush 2022: James is a Mr. Basketball candidate and showed off why in a battle of titans between Brush and Gahanna. James had a lot of scoring responsibility, especially without Marlon Barnes Jr. Marlon Barnes Jr. 6'6" | SF Brush | 2023 State #161 Nation OH during the second half. James is a college-ready prospect who has put together impressive scoring numbers the past two seasons for Brush. The Arcs are looking to make their first regional championship under Chet Mason, and it’s going to fall on James shoulders to lead them in the clutch moments.
Louie Semona Louie Semona 6'7" | PF St Xavier | 2022 State OH , 6’7 PF St Xavier 2022: A late replacement for a team that had COVID, St Xavier defeated an international squad from Finland and once again Semona impressed. Semona has thrived becoming batman for the Bombers after playing a robin type role last season. His mobility and outside shooting make him a mismatch at 6’7. I believe Semona is one of the best available prospects in the state and should be attracting interest from every Division II program in the region looking for a stretch-4.
