Logan Orchard | Coeur d’Alene High School 24’
This kid is a very composed sophomore. He is about 6’1 and 180 lbs, but the way he plays, makes you wonder if he thinks he’s 6’5 220 lbs cause he isn’t scared of anyone or any space on the court. He can play outside attacking his defender off the dribble, using the pick and roll with great effectiveness, and he will even shoot it from 18+ feet. Logan doesn’t ever look rattled and seems to always feel comfortable no matter how chaotic the game feels. He is a player that plays with a high IQ and is great at making plays for himself and others. What I loved the most about Logan’s game, was that he attacks the boards like a big man, is diving on the floor to win 50/50 balls to gain extra possessions for his team, locks in on defense, and can guard with great intensity. A pleasure to watch and will have to continue to keep my eye on this kid!
Blake Buchanan Blake Buchanan 6'10" | PF Lake City | 2023 State #172 Nation ID | Lake City High School 23’
Blake is a force, plain and simple. He is 6’11 but moves around the court like a guard. He is a beast on the boards, he has a great feel around the basketball whether he is facing the hoop or with his back to it. He can step out and shoot it from 18 feet and has the athleticism and speed to beat you off the dribble. Lake City is a really fun team to watch because they move the ball really well, and Blake makes it that much easier with the attention he receives from the defense, relieving some pressure off his guards to play a little more freely. Blake is a great kid and is very coachable. This kid is going to make a D1 coach quite happy when he moves on from high school basketball.
Kolton Mitchell Kolton Mitchell 6'1" | PG Lake City | 2023 State ID | Lake City High School 23’
The first thing you notice about Kolton is his high motor! The kid is always moving around and even though he is only 6’1 150 lbs, he is a bowling ball when attacking the rim resulting in extra free throws almost every time. Kolton is the train conductor of the Wolves offense and is great at making the best play for his team, whether that be breaking his defender down off the dribble, using a pick and roll, or kicking to an open teammate for a jumper, you can trust Kolton to make a good decision. Kolton rebounds the ball really well for a 6’1 guard and has the speed and quickness to guard on the defensive end. (Player is the featured image of the article)
Gunner Larson | Coeur d’Alene High School 24’
Gunner might be the most athletic 6’2 guard I’ve seen in all of the Spokane/Northern Idaho areas. Gunner has an innate ability to play above the rim, but when you look at him you wouldn’t think that he could do those things. Gunner is a high-energy kid that is going to do whatever it takes to win. He will rebound and battle with the bigs for loose balls, he will box out a man twice his size if you ask him to, he is just a player that wants to win, and it shows in his effort on the court. Gunner is more than just a guard with great intangibles, as he performs well in physical aspects on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. I think this spring/summer Gunner will make huge strides in developing into a player that can take over a game and make you want to guard him full court and send a double team frequently. Excited to see his growth.
Camden DeGraw | Coeur d’Alene High School 24’
Standing at 6’7 225 lbs this kid is a load to deal with! He is a two-sport athlete as he also plays football… Imagine the things he could do on the football with that size! Camden is no slouch either! He is a very athletic 6’7. Camden is a ballplayer you can rely on to rebound, block/alter shots, and make noise inside the paint. As he develops his skills on the offensive end Camden will be a wrecking ball of a player when hones those skills in. He doesn’t back down from contact and actually seeks it out. He is a hard-nosed kid that gets in the chaos of the game and tries to win extra possessions for his team. He is still growing and learning the game as he is only a sophomore. Spring and Summer for Camden will be vital for skill development and increasing his confidence.
